  1. Mine sits right at 800 with the AC off (economy setting), but rises to 1000 when I turn the AC on
  2. I cant believe what I read! 3 years for attempted murder after being convicted previously for accesory to murder? People may not agree with the American way of doing things, but they have a little something called the three strikes law (three felonies = life sentence). That M-F would never be on the streets again and would be bleeding out of his A-hole everyday.... (unless he was he Texas where they would execute him). I hate to think what I would do if someone attacked a member of my family like that....
  3. Good on you Gaz! :nana2: Ready for another year of Zeddom. I know how it feels to get back on the road after some time off. Nice that all the work was worth it.
  4. Thanks everyone, ended up putting it into self diagnostic mode and detecting a problem with the temp sensor (code 13). Tested the sensor and cleaned up the connector, got a code 55! Will keep Dave, Topless, SMW, and AndyP on my short list for next time I need a Conzult.
  5. Anyone in the South Central area have a conzult? Just installed a JD chip and need to check my ECU.
  6. I feel for ya mate. All I can say is sue the b@stards and get every cent you can! If you want to attend any of the meets, just let me know. I'm just down the M3 from you and would be happy for you to ride along.
  7. Bought one of these last week. Not cheap but worth it. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=1594
  8. Welcome to the slicktop club! (they are the best) :D Saw this advertised by Lee, very nice example.
  9. Incredible car, I'm guessing the noise when they let off is gear-driven cams. Spotted this video on a related link (make sure you watch it to the end). http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ySLvePpB1vw&feature=related
  10. Oh, I forgot to thank everyone that made today possible - Andy, Paul, Pete, Greg, and Gaz's invaluable advice Hellraiser - OEM suspension bits. Mr. F at MJP - wing and mirrors Dan at DTA - KYB Z1 motorsports - Powertrix and Nismo stuff Zedworld - HKS Hyper cat back for a bargain. Alex300zx - Smithy Headers for a bargain. Everyone - positive thoughts!
  11. Ummm, lets just say after messing about with it all day, it turned out to be the simplest thing possible. :headvswal And if 300zx girl and I pass a little "stuff" between us it's nobody's business but ours... :D
  12. Black Sunshine is prowling the streets of Winchester again! :D :D :D :D :D Everythings fixed and working as it should, took her out for a half hour test drive and still haven't wiped the grin off my face. Upgraded the front and rear suspension while I was at it, fully adjustable everything, and new Stillen anti sway bars. Will take it to Micheldever tyres tomorrow for alignment (and new rear tyres). New exhaust starting with the Smithy/Leon headers, decats, and HKS Hyper cat back. The sound is unbelievable and definitly picked up some power. Very pleased with myself, I think installing the headers was the biggest job but every job seemed to throw up a challenge. Anyway, tomorrow morning she will get a good wash and polish and I'll see how bad she's scratched. After that it's time to install the John Dixon chip...

  14. Thanks everyone! I'll go over the lines again and check the fluid. Looks like the power steering control unit is mounted next to the ECU so I'll check those connections also. Possible a connector, fuse, or relay got knocked loose. It's a 1990 N/A so no Hicas to worry about.
  15. Checked everything I could see... I was just reviewing the online manual. It talks about checks at the connectors. When you asked if I plugged it in I assumed you meant the solenoid connection. The manual talks about testing outputs at a seven pin connector, do you know where this one is located?
  16. OK, trying to flush it doesn't sound like a good idea... Andy, if you had the same problem what would would you do? Should I just bite the bullet and replace the steering rack?
  17. Now lets not get personal.... Seriously, traced all the lines and they look OK. So, this problem could be caused by something obstructing the flow of fluid. Any way to flush it?
  18. Yep, switch reconnected. I was afraid of the rack being damaged but evrything seems to be moving smoothly. The noise is coming from the power steering pump, hard to describe the sound, sounds like it's gone dry.
  19. No problem, just move to Kentucky!
  20. Possible air lock, belt looks and is adjusted fine. It has to something that was caused in the wreck or when I had it torn apart while replacing bits. Andy, Paul, Pete, any advice? Please start with the simplest possibility and then to the more severe. I'm determined to get this sorted today so I can go get the alignment and tyres sorted tomorrow.
  21. Finished the repairs yesterday and took the old girl for a drive. Everything seems to working OK except the steering. Getting the typical sound you get when power steering fluid is low, gets worse at full lock. Feels like the power steering is cutting in and out, although everything moves smoothly when car is turned off and on the jack stands. No leaks anywhere and fluid is OK. Any ideas?
