Can I join as hopefully a temporary member please?- What did you do to your zed today?
I collected a possible new exhaust from Jimmytt yesterday and met with the guy's who built his one off exhaust system for him..... Nice and very talented guys down in Orpington Kent..... Their welding is gorgeous and they pay attention to detail...... Here is a quick before and after when I got home and started to clean off years of oil and muck..... Top one is degreased and quickly wiped over with fine wire wool and the bottom is the caked with dirt and oil one...... Thanks again to Jimmytt for this to help me get to JAE.... Tonight I did clean the other one, just need to clean the centre section and plug the threaded hole up...... I also tried to remove my broken exhaust stud from the turbo elbow, but just managed to shear it off flush in the end.... so drilling it is this weekend.... lol- Happy Birthday Groover
Happy Birthday Graham........:balloon::balloon::happybday::balloon::balloon:- Ahhhhh Exhaust manifold leak, Local zed garage? London based?

I did and shall be collecting tomorrow after work.... Cheers James.....- Hands up........
I hope social services catch up with him too...... some father he is...... Would be sweet justice if the owner of the Aston was a High Court Judge.......- Ahhhhh Exhaust manifold leak, Local zed garage? London based?
It is hard to do, but I managed to remove the drivers side turbo on mine in the car a few years ago...... But it was very hard going....... Better to get someone who knows their Z's to do it......- Veilside's work in progress
Yep Lee, 2x4 and a few 4x2 thrown in..... I built them for welding the sill as I wanted it sat on all 4 wheels, so when I cut out the rot there was no twisting where it was jacked up unevenly.... They are very handy for things like exhausts, underbody sealing, servicing engine like oil changes / diff / gearbox, etc.... If anyone is taking out a few stud walls and has spare off cuts or lengths, perfect instead of in the skip...... save the planet and build these instead...... lol And it is good for practicing your Jenga moves..... lol- Has the Z32 300zx come of age?
And to think I was starting to like and respect you......... :slap:- Veilside's work in progress

If it did levitate they would be staying on..... lol I jack up front and slide the 1/2 of the blocks under, then repeat for the rear and then repeat, locking in the other 1/2 of the blocks...... like giant lego / jenga.... lol It makes it just high enough to slide out gearbox, it's level and extremely stable to work on.... better than jacks when working underneath for long periods.... Only draw back is not being able to remove wheels, suspension, steering, etc...- Veilside's work in progress
It's in back garden now feeling unloved and lonely..... lol- Veilside's work in progress
I am sitting her looking at these pictures trying to decide if I should carefully remove side skirts and store away in loft........ or smash them off to make it easier to remove them.....lol- Veilside's work in progress

Can I chirp in with ACTUALLY agreeing with Si for once... Yes I actually have grown up and have ditched the veilside kit that has adorned my Z since 2001 when I bought her as a rolling shell.... and fitted the kit! I was into fast flashy body kits and saw the veilside kit before Fast and Furious made it cool to have one. For me it was to cover up the imperfect sills and rear quarter panels that, well looked dented and not straight at all! I always loved the comments by the fast car / Max power mob and loved the attention being honest.... But the past couple of years has seen a change in my taste and aspirations of what I want my pride and joy to look like and feel like. I have watched Si, Joel, Andrew as well as other members bring their cars up to such a high standard... It is an inspiration to see the TLC and attention to detail that members are pouring into their prized Z's.... They seem to have gone from a garaged toy's, to a passion and labour of love for a lot of owners. I now aspire to stripping off all of the parts that show wear and rust..... Replacing them, fabricating parts, powder coating, reconditioning and subtly modifying some parts. I have ditched the Veilside front bumper, boot spoiler, soon to be ditched is the side skirts.... I am going for a smooth and sympathetic sleek look that others have done, but this will take me some time to achieve financially with saving for the paintwork. I no longer want the boy racer look, I want enthusiast who loves his car for what it is and not what he has turned it into! Don't get me wrong, I loved the veilside kit..... (sorry Si).... But It isn't my Z's future, it is it's past..... Been there got the T'shirt kind of thing! I can't afford to build a monster engine with huge HP gains, but I can try my best to keep my Z as rust free, Serviced, Maintained, Cleaned regularly, loved and most of all, Driven with passion! My Z will never be good enough for concourse, but I can get her close with some time, effort, passion and a lotto win! My Penny worth..... :innocent:- Tell me again how you don't like the Z31...
I've seen them try to sell the kids for 50p each......... lol- Tell me again how you don't like the Z31...
see if he will swap it for some weed............ lol Kidding before anyone takes me seriously!!!!- Ross aka Ruishy
That's awful news Jimmer.... Ruishy (Ross) was so helpful and a nice guy to chat to...... I would like to extend my condolences to Ross's family from my family....- Tell me again how you don't like the Z31...
I was waiting for your comment........ ROFL They have gone for the Porsche look front end on that one....- Tell me again how you don't like the Z31...
I have to say I am not a fan, but it looks clean...... Too angular for me.... I prefer the lines of the 240, 260 or Z32 They remind me of the Mitsubishi Starion and the MR2.... But this one is more my liking -- JAE 10th -13th September 2015

Thought I would start a working thread for my labour of love (on a shoestring budget!).... Well going to go and buy some stud removers from machine Mart tomorrow to sort the snapped stud problem when removing the test pipes to replace the transmission. Then get a new stud from SEF. The Transmission is now mated with engine successfully and split rear mount temporarily fitted for testing purposes only as I had to order a Nismo one from the USA as they could get it here in a week thank god! Filling with Dexron III tomorrow, but waiting till later in the year to replace the Transmission sump with the old one that has the drain plug fitted. Also need to look at changing the diff lubricant while I am underneath. Stripping starter motor tomorrow and reconditioning the old one, as it occasionally doesn't engage properly. I am going for the straight through exhaust I picked up from Richie by the looks of it until my stainless tips are replaced with longer ones to clear rear bumper, just need to learn to weld stainless to do it. Tomorrow is polish up the rear boxes day and try to get her back together as running out of time before JAE. I still have to wrap the boot lid after I weld the spoiler and wiper holes up, (as I am saving up for next years paint job), fit audio back in after re-furbishing the subwoofers, stripping off veilside side skirts and fitting the new ones, removing all 4 wheels and cleaning the properly, stripping O/S/R arms and hub for refurb and refitting, plus a damn good clean, polish and sealant. I was bringing a friend to JAE, but have told him I'm no longer going so he could go camping with his family as they were pressuring him and I was feeling the pressure to release him from his promise to come. So aiming for driving up Thursday evening about 5pm for a 3 hr drive or Friday morning early, leaving at 5am early. Getting music sorted already for a long drive! Gonna be weird now I have given up smoking, as I always enjoyed a cigarette or 20 on long drives, 4 months on and it is getting easier after 31 years of tobacco! Right to bed for an early start....... - the zed in bits unfinshed project or broken off the road any colour thread
