  1. Hi, It is rusted through outer, both inner panels with holes in and the inner sill is caked in rust.... but looks bad.... the rear mounts seem very solid.... I am going to clean up tomorrow to see how bad it is with wire brush on drill.... I have some pics....lol The hardest part was removing the bonded on skirt..... that was hard, a few small cracks occurred, but all repairable with some fibreglass and resin.... These were before I took the angle grinder to it this afternoon....lol I marked a few lines up the outer sill and cut till I was on all good metal... About 1 inch below the swage line on the rear qtr panel..... The pillar is rust free.... The front of the rust is where the rear quarter is welded to the front sill section.... The inner 2 panels are gone about half way up the preformed holes...... The inner sill / box section is full of rust from everywhere else, so needs some work to see just how bad it really is..... I measured the sheet metal I need and ordered some from local supplier today... I have gone for the 0.9mm he had..... is that thick enough? I have checked and the front jacking point is gone as had the other side I just repaired.... I have already done the other side so was ready to do this anyway.... The middle piece of sill seems solid and pretty rust free..... Had a look down and it looks solid.... I am just a bit nervous about the rear inner section, but I will know more tomorrow.....

  10. Well I went to check drivers rear sill that is hiding behind the veilside side skirts and......... it started as a small scab and grew to NO REAR SILL LEFT..... Yep the dreaded metal worm has eaten the rear sill.... couldn't see it behind skirting.... So I now need to remove the skirt that is bonded and painted to the rest of the car........ any idea's to do this as cleanly as possible? I was thinking stanley knife through the paint along edge of skirt and use sharp wide chisel to try to lift the skirt from the body? I now feel sick.... thought the N/S was the worst rust, but that outer sill has been replaced before..... the O/S one hadn't.... Just glad I found it now.... I Now need a O/S rear sill piece.... Any idea's...? I could try to fabricate one as the skirt will go over the sill again anyway....... Or anyone breaking a car with a good sill????????? Looks like a respray is in the works...... Just wish I could afford all of this...
  11. Found this 2 tone on google images.... not exactly what you were saying....

  16. If you lend me your Z..... I will be your mate........?..........lol
  17. DON"T DO IT......... I now need to repaint my Z due to millions of small bubbles in the paint from a car cover..... and it wasn't a cheap one..... Fully breathable waterproof and UV reflective..... My entire bonnet, roof boot spoiler and upper of the car is ruined..... Strip back to metal and respray time..... I now think i would have been better with one of those pull over car port things...... Something like this....
  18. Thanks for that, I will have to try them.... when I get the time....lol
  19. The one's I had were about 6 forward facing LED's in a 501 plastic casing.... they were in my garage for a few years, so thought I would try them and regretted it... The LED's have come on so much in terms of output and size since I had bought these.... It was about the time all the boy racers started getting colour changing 501 LED's... The ones you are looking at actually light things up.......lol
  20. Hi Si, I have the T3 neo wedge from an ebay supplier and fitted them to my saab..... they are actually better than I was expecting.... as they are so small and the original bulbs were tiny there isn't a lot of difference... I think when I replaced the bigger 501 bulbs, that is when it showed for me. I did my auto shifter illumination and it was pants with LED's I got.. I refitted new 501's in the end... I will be doing the same as you sometime, when I actually get a battery back in the car...... So am watching this thread to see what you come up with...... Russ Must type faster.....
  21. This is the one I have and used for my TT.... If it helps.... http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ces-750a-engine-stand
  22. I seam sealed the N/S floorpan and welding that I have been attempting. Mended my broken short scuttle panel with some lovely 'milliput', let it dry and then wet flat it and now it looks like a new panel.... Just have to repaint the other panel to match now.... I also ordered enough Dynamat sound deadening to do the whole car, T bar clamps for all pipework, ordered new brake pads for the front and found a wonderful company who sell rubber blanking plugs and grommets who supply samples of their products, so I requested one for my missing floor bung along with a few other goodies.... I can definitely say that meeting Shortz and 300 zeds has given me the kick up the rear I needed to get on with my Z.....
  23. It looks sooooo clean and looks like it rolled out of the factory like that......... love it.....
