  1. That'll be the pre-masked gimp I sent you James. Did you get the talcum powder? Undressing him is a PITA without it...
  2. LOL 0 years old? Luxury!! I got mine 2 years before I was born ;) :D I consider myself a young'un, insurance justrenewed to £1,800, from £2,400ish
  3. I'll just check...nope I'm still laughing :D;) How much is a quart??
  4. Was it you? Lady with brown curly hair. :D
  5. Quarts? LOL How many bushels is that, about 4 3/16ths of a peck? ;):D:D
  6. I can see what you thinking : "Now I have a slight chance of winning" ;) Thanks boys - hopefully the chuddy ended cane (CEC) might work, off to homebase at lunch ;) But I will look out for a grabber. Pete
  7. Raz - thats the sort of thing I need - obviously not magnetic tho ;) Me and John Dixon used his when a new PCV valve jumped down a big hole in the engine bay the other day. Like a syringe on one end, and when you depress the syringe three metal prongs come out of the other and grab the lost piece.
  8. Cool - I'll try Nissan tomorrow and see if they can get me one :) . If not I'll try the indicator method - lol I just read you post Aaron from when you did it... Cheers Pete
  9.:mad: 1. I dropped the radiator air outlet screw down the gap to the left of the radiator  Can see it but can't reach it and it's all hard pipes down there . I'll have to see if I can find one of those long wiry grappling tools tomorrow, or source another screw from Nissan (very doubtful - I'm sure it's an "Import Screw" or something equally as dumb and ridiculous!) 2. I spent a good half hour fannying around taking apart the dash, swapping the duff autobox dash bulb with a good one only to put it all together and there's 2 rows of bulbs - WTF?? What do the top row do, above the HICAS one? I thought I'd moved the HICAS bulb one place to the left, but when I put it all together the damn thing still came on the same  Think I've moved one above that to the left - are there 2 rows of three? Thoroughly pissed off now cos it's dark, I'm no closer to diagnosing the autobox fault (prob the TPS) and my car is now undrivable as its got no little radiator screw. Thanks for listening  ;) Pete
  10. Did the main ECU check - 55 all clear :) Will have to wait to do the autobox as the bulb for the light isn't working  - I'll swap some bulbs around and try again tomorrow... Talking with JD, its probably the wire or connector to the TPS as I wrenched it around a bit the other day :o so may have broken a connection somewhere. The autobox ECU check will show this though, looking at the list of fault outputs :) Thanks for the help everyone, more money saved hopefully ;) Pete
  11. Thanks guys :) I'll print this out and attack the car tonight ;) Andy - I fitted a new temp sensor the other day - dont think its that. It feels like its ECU related - Autobox or Engine  And given that I've recently got an SE chip installed its probably to do with that. Are they any compatibiltiy issues with autoboxes and ECU upgrades?? Will do the diagnostics and check all the vac hoses - which I'm renewing soon :D, and report back :) Cheers Pete
  12. Hmmm it is definately not detonation then :) I'll take the battery off while at work today and try it again later. Berks - the TBs are nice and clean but I'll check they are opening correctly at WOT :) :( Cheers, keep 'em coming :) Pete
  13. Oh yeah - the dropping of revs with the noise also happens when pushing the accelerator in Neutral
  14. Hi folks, Just been out in the zed about 30 miles or so and it was behaving like poo :( Don't know if it is engine or autobox related, can you help? Some background: Did some work on it on Saturday - SE chip, boost jets to 12psi, adjusted TBs to open fully, replaced all pcv hoses and valves. The day of the work the car was amazing :) But tonight very strange things happened: On ignition the "Power" light on the dash blinked 5 or 6 times. The idle was up to 2000rpm. The engine had a different, almost whiney, noise to it, the pitch rising with the revs. Driving it, the car felt breathless and hesistated and the revs jumped around 2500 to 1000 up and down, jerking the car. This stopped when the car warmed up but then when I tried boosting - at max boost the car would stop accelerating and make a "Bum, bum, bum" noise - the revs jumping about again  causing engine braking. It did this most of the journey. Later, nearing home, off a roundabout the revs jumped about again and the car wouldn't accelerate from about 20ish. I stomped on the gas pedal a few times and the car stuttered up to speed. Then it boosted well, through the gears - but the autobox upshifted at 5000rpm each time  and "Power" wouldn't automatically engage. Stopping - the big fan was on full blast and the revs high. I've got a tank optimax in, is the "bum bum" sound detonation (I've never heard it) or the autobox clutch slipping or something else? :( Can anyone diagnose from my v long winded description? The car was ok before chip+boost, though boosting had felt a bit slow - not as instant as usual. Big thanks :) Pete
  15. Wiggle the left hand side temp sensor, it'll stop ;) Sounds like a knackered temp sensor or just a dirty connection, very common :) Pete
  16. A couple of hours with the right tools - few different longnosed pliers, sockets, 10mm spanner for the battery and cruise control, long pokey things, big pliers, thin arms :) That's if you dont drop one of the valves down the back of the turbos :D - cos that will add an hour or so ;) Pete
  17. I tried to singe it, but the whole thing went up in flames ;)
  18. Nelson - it has has oil changes every 8 turns, but did have a leak in 2000, which was fixed soon after: HTH Pete
  19. Ok James let me know :) I can get it certified for an extra 4p Nelson, are you interested? Here are a couple of pics, shortly after the rebuild in 95:
  20. Just a minute...anticlockwise unfortunately :(
  21. Hard to say  - from the slight markings I think it maybe rolled about 40-50cm. Then it landed on the left hand side. It was retrieved from next to a 19mm socket, if that is important, it says in the history.
  22. Ah ha!! Then it is rare!!! That's gotta add value ;)
  23. Hmmm not sure, the nut has got a sketchy service history but is faultless in its performance ;) The history says it had a nut+bolt rebuild in 1995. Apart from the scratch (looks like it has been dropped, and rolled along a little bit) it is top notch. Any pics, please ask ;) :D
