  1. Oh I'm with you now, I think. You are referring to clocks as instrument cluster? I thought you were talking about the clock on the stereo surround! I did take the cluster apart and check it out, the speedometer is also driven differently and can not be wound back, unlike the early models that were very simple. My 2000 Z has just over 160,000k's & was clearly used as a daily commutator. The B-pillar was bent out of shape on the drivers door and looks like someone tried to enter the vehicle. I have had all that kind of stuff, plus more repaired/fixed. The only plans left are to fit the '99 spec bumper (with lip), install built engine, gauges & Greedy boost controller. I'm looking at getting some 18" wheels for everyday use & keep the gold Advan wheels for the track. I also have Z1 BA SMIC's and 2.5" cooler piping to help the engine breathe. The engine has 88mm pistons and the heads have been extensively ported with larger valves and JWT 400+ cams. Also need the exhaust made up (3 inch), so plenty to do still. I'm hoping to make 400rwkw, but at the end of the day numbers aren't important to me. I just want it to be responsive and fun to drive. I didn't know that they have a lightened drive pulley standard, so that's a bonus! For anyone interested, I have a build thread @aus300zx.com HERE.
  2. That's correct, for what ever reason with the late model they flipped the year/date. Sorry, what do you mean? There is a lot of differences with the late model Z I am sure I'm unaware of. I recently removed the fuse for the electric HICAS. Lot easier to bypass than the hydraulic system!
  3. Oh yes, the Bomex type 4 wing was already installed also. Looks like it once had side skirts too (signs of glue/discolouration). I am slowly trying to restore it to factory condition with a 600hp engine. I've been a Z nut since the age of 10 or so & this would be the exact model of Z (white/slicktop/TT/5spd) I would order from factory given the chance. So very happy to have had to opportunity to buy such a rare example.
  4. Apparently a older gentleman bought it new in Japan in 2000 & had it imported personally to Australia in 2004. I bought it from a friend who came across it in Western Australia sight unseen and had it shipped to me in Tasmania (other side of the country). At this point in time a lot had been changed from factory. It had the Stillen front bar/fascia, single exhaust, 320mm steering, fibreglass bonnet with vents, UAS SMIC's, & wheel & 17" ADVAN wheels. In the time I have owned it have have some panel work done and paintless dent removal done. Replaced exterior trim/weather molds. I have replaced broken interior bits, installed the Momo wheel pictured & give it a full clean/detail. I have also installed a full alloy rad, adjustable tension rods and rear camber arms, Tein Flex coilovers, Selin dual pop intake & Ganador mirrors. I also have a forged race spec VG with GT2860RS turbos I plan to drop into it soon :)
  5. It's a version S, twin turbo, 5 speed. I have a '99 fascia ready to be painted and installed.
  6. Big thread dig, but I bought a 2000 model slicktop end of last year. Any others with late model Z's that haven't surfaced also?
  7. You my friend have a leaking heater core/tap. Best bypass your heater core ASAP.
  8. Love the front fascia. I had the same on my previous Z.
  9. For anyone interested, my full build thread can be found here: CLICK ME.
  10. Thanks all. I would have preferred the stock steering wheel, as well as the stock front bumper. But sadly both had been replaced prior to my purchase. This car is no where near as neat as my 2+2 was/is. But I am slowly but surely doing what I can to restore her to showroom condition (or close to). I don't plan to baby this car either. I bought it with the intention of doing track days which will upset some people. But cars are for driving and enjoying, not locking away and admiring (though I still admire it every time I look at it haha). Off the top of my head, engine details are: VAT BLOCK MILL DECK OF ENGINE BLOCK HONE ALL CYLINDERS W/ TQ PLATE (INCLUDES BORING) PIN FIT PISTONS AND RODS MACHINE OIL GALLEY DEBURR ENGINE BLOCK (INSIDE & OUT) MAG CHECK CRANKSHAFT BALANCE AND POLISH CRANKSHAFT EPR BEARING COATING SERVICE EPR CYLINDER BORE COATING SERVICE EPR PISTON COATING SERVICE EPR MANIFOLD AND TURBOCHARGER COATING SERVICE PORTED OIL PUMP 3 ANGLE VALVE JOB EPR STREET PORT MILL DECK OF CYLINDER HEADS DEBURR CYLINDER HEADS EPR EXHAUST PORT COATING SERVICE EPR COMBUSTION CHAMBER COATING SERVICE WISECO PISTONS SCAT RODS MANLEY OS SS VALVES CLEVITE MAIN & ROD BEARINGS JWT VALVE SPRINGS NEW CHECK VALVES AND RESTRICTORS NEW OIL GALLEY PIPE PLUGS NEW DOWEL PINS NEW GASKET KIT JWT R4+ CAMSHAFT KIT FREEZE PLUGS ARP HEADSTUDS Supporting mods are: SELIN DUAL POP INTAKE CZP GT2860RS TURBO KIT Z1 BA SMIC Z1 2.5" COOLER PIPING NISTUNE ECU 3" DUMP PIPES Hoping to have some custom 3" test pipes made up into a 4" single.
  11. Repaired B-pillar. Interior after replacing broken clips/switches etc. New molds installed & Ganador mirrors. Installed fog light ducts. Selin dual pop intake intalled. Sadly there wasn't enough room at my current residence to keep both the Z's, so the 2+2 was sold earlier this year. I also have a fully rebuilt engine to drop in. I'm hoping to make 550bhp. Currently lots of headaches/f*#kups slowing down the swap. So that is where I am currently at. I do need to get my ar$e in gear and get some decent pictures. -Jono
  12. Here are a few pics of what I've done thus far. A removed the seats and gave them a clean. Also retensioned the base of the drivers base fabric. Had to take this pic for all the people (American's) telling me 1996 was the last year. Removed the headlights (one had a small blemish) & took the opportunity to clean the area. Brand new Xenon headlights. Installed.
  13. G'day folks from Aussie land. It has been a VERY long time since I was last here. I haven't been visiting forums much in the last couple of years, but starting to browse again. I apologize in advance if you frequent 300ZXclub, aus300zx, or tt.net as you've probably read/seen this already. Towards the end of last year a very rare 300ZX popped up for sale on the other side of the country. A 200o model, arctic white, twin turbo, 5 speed, version S, slicktop. Sadly it wasn't in original trim & the condition wasn't perfect. That said, I couldn't pass up the opportunity of owning such a rare 300ZX. This is how she after being delivered via truck, train & boat. Already had a Stillen front, Bomex wing & 17" ADVAN wheels. The drivers side B-pillar had been damaged and repaired poorly. After a bit of searching I've discovered the vents are from a Nissan GTI-R. Typical windscreen cowls. Stock engine. During the last few months I've been paying attention to the cosmetics. I had the B-pillar repaired properly, new windscreen cowls, weather molds, headlights, also had a paintless dent removalest pay me a visit. Also fitted a larger radiator, Ganador mirrors & fitted some Tein Flex coilovers. I changed out the steering wheel for a Momo, replaced broken clips/switches, removed the aftermarket 3rd brake light and removed the clear tint film from the rear window (b!tch of a job). Lastly a full detail, claybar, polish & wax. She is starting to look the part now.
  14. GTR does sound good, quick too. The black VIP GTR won the event.
  15. Hey guys, & girls. Here's a little video I knocked together this morning from footage I obtained @ work. Hope you enjoy
  16. G'day guys & girls, I made a little fan page for the Z32 300ZX on facebook. Would be good if members who use facebook joined up, and added some pics. The stronger the Z32's following for all to see, the better :hyper: Jono
  17. Don't know what's going on in your life mate, but when you are down in the dumps you are incapable of making wise decisions. Listen to everyone here, and put the car to one side while you get yourself back together, then make a decide what you want to do :) All the best.
  18. Thanks Smithy, sounds exactly like what is happening with my leak. With the timing belt covers off, the oil is being sprayed around from behind the sprocket. Cheers, Jono
  19. Glad to hear, as I suspected. I wasn't sure if it was a common, probable cause or not. I bought a pair of second hand sprockets from interstate earlier today, so hoping that they are in good condition, and fix the leak :)
  20. Thanks Jeff. So you are saying another intake sprocket is required?
  21. Long story short, my Z has a oil leak at the front of the engine. I pulled the front off, and the leak was coming from the behind the right hand intake (VTC) cam sprocket. I automatically assumed it was the cam seal, so I removed all the cam sprockets, and replaced the seals (I also replaced a lot of other things while I had access). Since then, I have re-installed everything, only to discover it is still leaking! I've ruled out the cam cover, as it was clean around that area. The sprockets haven't been off in the 6 years I've owned the Z, so it won't be cam shaft damage. Sorry, this isn't really that short a story! Question is, how common is it for the sprocket to fatigue, and cause a leak?
  22. Still no edit function I see :smash: Forum has changed a BIT
