  1. Insurance has got be one of the biggest costs/rip offs if you are not careful!! I have a jap spec NA that costs me £900 with AON! why dont we get Craig to sort ouy some sort of database - enter some basic details (price, company, age postcode etc) then it would be very helpful to see who is best in what areas and who is currently doing good deals  What does veryone else think? (sorry craig for possible extra work :D but it is probably worth doing if it saves you a few hundred quid!) Barry
  2. The windows firewall is very basic, zonealarm is basic and smoothwall is very good! I use smoothwall to protect the PC's at work. It uses a specially customised cut down version of the linux operating system - very secure and gets patches etc if any bugs/flaws are found. Its has the record of never being breached which not many firewalls can claim. Only problem is you need a dedicated PC - you can use any old pc, late 486 + and about 24+ mb of ram. If you are an occasional modem user then the windows/zone alarm stuff will do but if you have broadband/static IP address then you should get a decent firewall... as these are the type that get targeted more... Hope this helps - I dont know how "techie" you are so tried to keep it simple ;) Barry
  3. i need the description for my jap spec car? Anyone tell me what is on the form? Thanks Barry
  4. The problem is your case is AT style that has a fixed power on button to the power supply, whilst the new ATX (current) style have software controlled power supplies ( a small lead is connected from the case to the motherbaord to switch it on). Also the power supply connector to the motherboard is different from AT to ATX. Also the wattage rating of new CPU's are alot higher than AT, used to be around 150-200 watts the latest today use 300 watt. So summing all those factors its probably better to get a new server case/power supply - you could try and bodge it with a soldering iron and some connectors but messy... :D You can pick up a full tower case/300+ watt supply from about £60+ i should think... it will have a min of 4to5 5 1/4's and 4+ 3 1/2 inch slots Barry
  5. The sickening thing is Milton Keynes is completely connected by cable - rented to NTL from BT - has been for several years but NTL have still not offered any broadband connections  Anyway be careful choosing Pipex as if it works great but if you have problems the customer service can be very lousy (very hard to get to speak to someone) from what i have read - though i know a person who has it nad has been very happy! You can get ADSL for about £12 a month now on some deals - but beware as to how long those companies last (1 has already gone bust...) Around £20-24 is a reasonable price.... I use newnet (http://www.newnet.co.uk) at work for ADSL, they seem very reliable and we get a good connection. Did have BTopenworld but the service was not very good. The worst thing is I cant get ADSL broadband in my village just outside MK, as i am 6.5KM away from the exchange - you need to be a max of 5.5KM!!! That is bloody Annoying! Anyway I use Eclipse internet for my 56K which has been great, I know they do ADSL too. Shame i cannot afford the satellite like Andy! Cheers Barry
  6. Devil, Have Carnossieur got a website? Thanks Barry
  7. Did some searching for the Mcgard nuts, found this site: http://www.machine7.co.uk/Cart/Locking_Bolts_and_Nuts.htm They seem to be selling them at £36 a set a bit more than advertised on autoexpress but its the only site with prices on. It would appear they are thatcham rated too :D I will email them and see what size/type they reccomend for the ZX. Thanks for the spec Andy - does that apply to imports and UK models??? Anyone else found a price/place? Will let you know what they say... Barry
  8. Andy, Is there some spec for the zx nuts then? (showing my ignorance here..) ;) I takes it there are differing sizes/specs and not all manufacturers do them? My last car car with them already had them on... Barry
  9. The McGard look the best with 5 stars, thank goodness i did not get the halfords 1 star botch jobs... Only problem is where do i get a set of McGard from - the link on the express site takes you to the OEM page (nothing much on that site...) Anyone know where i can get a set - well priced to at £29 compared to the halfords £21 'please take my wheels' set ;) Barry
  10. Surely someone must have view - Controversial or not :D Waiting with antisipated breath... Barry
  11. 81.76.144.103 is the IP address of the pc that did the probing, "netbios" is the old microsoft communications protocol that was commonly used to network windows PC's together... My network at work gets tonnes of attacks every day, unfortumatly there are plenty of servers running 24/7 that are infected and are constantly probing random ip addresses such as the one given out by your ISP to you when you connect to the internet... You should be able to turn the warnings off in zonealarm... Barry
  12. Of course I should add if you have unpassword proctected windows shares on your PC you may be in trouble - unlikely unless you have a home network... Barry
  13. It is more than likely some infected pc on the internet scanning your pc for "open windows shares" to copy a trojan virus across. You will get lots of these, i dont use zonealarm but it probably has a log facility where you can view the ip address of the machine probing yours. Basically ignore it, for more info view http://www.sans.org/newlook/resources/IDFAQ/port_137.htm Barry
  14. That is I need advice with wheel locking nuts!! :) My zx doesn't have any. I am i alright getting some from halfords for £21 or are there some better or cheaper? Are some safer/better at stopping someone piching your wheels? Thanks Barry
  15. So the metal sills with the luminated 300ZX logo are not standard then? Previous owner must have fitted mine then.... Barry
  16. Does everyone else spend 10mins filling up the ZX with petrol, as the pump constantly cuts out if you give it full whack? Dont mind in the summer but now its winter...:) Barry
  17. I have upgraded the bulbs from the stock 55w to 85W. Its acceptable now, though not great. But you can always turn the full works on ;) turning the fog lamps on - gives loads of light. I think a few people have commented they use the fog lamps to drive around as standard (i dont know how badly this effects other drivers though...?) Barry
  18. For £200 you can get an excellent camera, so for 100 -150 you should be able to get something reasonably good. All depends what you want do with it! I find cannon good and some HP and Kodak models are OK. This site is good for reviews: http://www.dcresource.com I got a canon powershot A40 - Very happy (around £200 pounds now..) Barry

Yep, check the drainage holes, i test them by pouring water down them and checking it comes out underneath the car. I had a leak on the drivers side. I took the targa panels out and found alot of the rubber seals had been squashed and malformed when the panels had been put in carelessly by the previous owner. I used some clear kitchen sink sealant to build the seals up and reshape the rubbers to stop the water coming in. I was getting a deluge from where the widow seal has 2 rubbers that join at the top of the door/window, the water would leak from the targa channels down on to the rubber join and then into the car. But i must have fixed it as the car stayed bone dry through the recent floods :) Barry
  20. Do not certain petrols have stuff that clean injectors like shell optimax? Nelsonmainfella works for optimax i think so he may be able to shed some light on it.... Anyway if you fill with optimax and it does clean the injectors, then you wont have to bother :) Barry

Do I have a propshaft problem? I get vibration at around 30-40 mph, then it goes away. Its not very bad, but you can definately tell when i hit 30-40mph range. One engineer i spoke to said it was probably an inbalance on the propshaft.... (but he did not look at it...) Is this right, and how long before it gets worse or is it going to damage something else if i leave it?? Thanks for the advice Barry
  22. I find Mcafee Antivirus does the trick for me - used it for years. Regarding Firewalls, unless it is a dedicated firewall like smoothwall (using an old PC see http://www.smoothwall.org) then I would not puch too much faith in these software firewalls that sit on your PC! Barry
  23. Enough options in here to drown in :) Definately an improvement, just hope it is more stable than the last board (desperatley seeking something wood to touch...) Great board! Barry
