Would just buying a new set of OEM springs likely to remedy the problem for now?

i believe the springs in there to be standard, but do seem to sit very low for a zed. so then to recap, to fix my problem I will need 4 New Tyres (doh!) Powertrix Adjustable Front Upper Arms AND Powertrix Adjustable Front Tension Rods. This is getting very expensive :/

agree with paul, the smell is always from them lines under the plenum. seems to be a hotspot for them. It may also be worth checking wether the smell is constant, or just when the car is running. if it is constant, i believe the rear pipe to the tank is prone to coroding too.

afternoon peeps, hope you are well - Took my Zed in for an mot this morning - passed on everything but excessive tyre wear on all 4 tyres :( hole in my pocket time. Looking at it, the camber on the front wheels are bad with excessive wear on the inside of the tyre, the rears are ok. im guessing the owner before me noticed the problem, and put the partially worn tyres on the back, and then purchased new ones for the front for it to pass its last MOT. usually, with cars with a slight camber problem, adjusting the tracking a bit can remedy the problem or reduce the effects. personally, i dont see this will happen on the zed - i can see the camber is out with the naked eye, so its well out. I spoke to Smithy this morning (the wurvly chap that he is) about purchasing some adjustable upper arms to remedy problem - i seem to recall that the zeds are prone to this issue, even on stock springs and wheels. I am now on a really, really tight budget as i have 4 tyres to purchase and the suspension to resolve. (had a gearbox go not that long ago and still feeling the effects of that too - thanks SWZ for the bargain repair though) anyway - to resolve my camber problem will just the ajustable upper arms resolve the problem? i would like to go fully adjustable, but for now i just need the essentials and can purchase other parts later not that i do not trust smithy, but i feel that i should shop around - I have tried to call DTA Motorsport and SWZ to see if they have anything in also. any help will be appreciated as im starting to relise, working on a zed is not for beginners!

car is so old and poo it has no lights at all - the car will attempt to turn over one, but can make a full rotation. Batt is flat. i would imagine New battery and terminal clean is the way to go. thanks peeps.

wouldnt that affect the lights though, if it was an altenator problem ?

morning guys, from bad to worse this morning - My zx is dead - I still need a new gearbox - and now my 89 VW Polo runaround is dying too. Battery is flat as a fart, put the jump leads on it, start her up and all is well. Come to it a few hours later and it wont start again. The lights etc seem to be fine, so would I be right in thinking that my Battery is knackered? Before you ask :p - I know nothing is left on that could cause the drain....

Morning guys, I have been a skrimping and a saving so I can take my car to SWZ performance and get a manal conversion, or a replacement autobox as mine is totally knackered. The man. conversion im finding very tempting for a few reasons. - Easier to Sell - Easier to replace individual parts, rather than a whole autobox. My questions is this, Will I loose any features for swapping over to a manual conversion. Will Cruise Control still work etc on the conversion? how will it differ to a normal 300zxTT Manual, and does anyone have any pics of their conversion ? thanks in advance peeps.

I make that £70 from Rooksbridge, Somerset to Weymouth in Dorset (69 miles) from there to here (plus return trip cost) - I can then call up and drive it home when shes bumbling around in drive again :)

so am I right in thinking then, the autobox, in a nutshell is gone? SWZ, you state £600 - not that I mind, but that sounds uber reasonable, do you refurb your own boxes? does that price include vat? and what guarantees do you provide? also, how long does it take you to swap a box? so I can organise some time round buton on sea ;)

guys, you may recall there was a post saying that I could hear an awfull whine on my trans, or on the back of my engine (mk1 Auto Twin Turbo Import) Well, the noise is deffinetly from the autobox, how depressing.. it gets worse, the car now slips out of drive within going about 10 yards down the road. It does seem very odd though, that if i turn the car off, leave it 30secs, start her up again, it will go in gear. is there any reason why this would happen? The sound is deffintley Hydraulic now, theres no denying it. any suggestions what can I can do now? is it likely to be the torque converter, or a pump within the gearbox unit. Is there any way that i can drain the sump. or does the oil have to be sucked out. worst case scenario, what am i looking for on a box replacement (plus labour) And for a conversion to manual any feedback greatly recieved :( - what a crappy christmas for me

Just copied aome audio off my mobile that i recorded last night of the sound im describing. i was concerned even then, so the sound you are hearing is the car being reved up to 2.25k rpm only the file is mini, like 50k - so will take a split second to download it and have a listen http://www.zeegy.net/images/cars/300zx/300zx_whine.mp3 i so which i could start work on her now, but i cant - GRRR! anyone, ideas after hearing that? the more you listen to it, the more 'belty it sounds'

im out here with the car now (on the wireless laptop) and it deffo, deffo sounds like a belt - a lot more distinctive than last night, am still unable to source it... but is coming from right at the back of the engine. if the fault was with the timing belt, would i notice any other symptoms ? I cant get under the car for today, as i have lost my jack. but wondered what i can do now to rule out any issues / problems?

guys, do any of you have this, and was it worth purchasing - it would help if i could have a reference for some stuff, as im beginning to relise how much of a nightmare the bay of the zed is to work on!!! is there a manual online or anything? if not - provided i have the data, i am more than comfortable to host it? just an idea to help the group (and myself) ZeeGles :p

possible, has always sounded a bit Cammy, would that be distinctive on the back of the engine bay though, you can hardly hear it from the front

sorry, forgot to mention this is in my 1st post... ac is off, i dont use it as it needs a regass anyway, ATF, engine oil and coolant are fine, no loss in oil pressure, transmission/engine performance or boost. but it sounds so bad it cant be ignored. any mnore ideas?? shall irecord a sound clip for you all, so you can hear it?

My Zed appears to be sick. (mk1 Twin Turbo Auto import) on idle she is running fine, no problems. on any rev at all (2k and more) she whines quite badly, I cannot find the noise around the engine, but is very distinctive in the cockpit. the noise is coming from the back/center or back/nearside of the engine (or Transmission) Its dark, so cant do much tonight, but does anyone have any ideas of what it may be before i attack her? any known whines with pumps, belts or auto trans ? thanks in advance, Zeegles.

youd have to find an awesome old volvo and screw a kit on that. would be ace :)
