I got pulled tonight!!!!!
actualy Dave, you are not far from the truth on this one. - had this row with a vosa inspector that his heart on taking my car off the road. the law states 1.) the number plate must be readable from x set distance Only number plates after 2001 fitted need to comply to 2.) 'Characters must be 79mm high and 50mm wide with a stroke of 14mm.Inter-character gap is 11mm and the space between the two parts of the registration number is 33mm' So in conclusion, if your plates are readable from the set distance, and were fitted before 2001 they are completely legal. any plate fitted to any age car after 2001 must comply the new rules. one to remember peeps! :)

Camber Kit Repair = Wobbly wheels :/
morning peeps, hope you are well - I have re-shimmed the the front upper arms to repair my front camber issues.... which worked well - which is brilliant. however, the car is now pulling slightly to the left, and is suffering wheel wobble at 55mph+ Now, I know the pulling is due to the tracking, which probably needs to be done... but the whobble is usually due to tyre balancing - but I know these are ok as they were balanced only a week ago. anything else that could cause the same symptoms?

Show me your boot installs!!
thats rubbish!! the only reason they need to get in the boot is to examine to spare wheel, if you dont have one - it doesnt need to be checked... same rules apply with front fog lights and spoiler brake lights... if you have them, they have to work... if you dont have them, you cant be tested on them. Had this debate with my boot light brake light spoiler.... so I taped over the light, and then it passed :D

Camber Shim Kit
Bily - no-one appears to sell them no more - i bought mine from dta-motorsport last week, he told me that he had a small set of stock, and hes been trying to sell them for years and would not be re-stocking! reason being is the adjustable camber arms seem to be the way to go. perhaps contact danny http://www.dta-motorsport.co.uk ? he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Confused by tyre speed ratings / legality - please help!
i was under the impression it was illegal - i thought you could have diff speed ratings front and back, but not each side. suitable size cant be a huge issue as i squeezed a pair of 225s onto 9.5j tyres to get through the mot. I have a jap spec zed, but with aftermarket wheels on 8j 17 on the front, and 9.5j 17 on the rear,

180Mph Clock? mhmmm?
I was browsing on zcentre.org.uk and wa looking at the spec differences with UK, Europe and Jap Zeds. Now I know I have a jap Zed, but im conerned about my speedo and mile counter. I do have the 180K/mph Clock in my car like this : Thing is, on mine it has a black sticker saying MPH stuck over the center of the clock (covering the kmph dial) My question is this : Was there any mods known that would let you slap a mph sticker over the dial and modify the dial to show mph specs? I dont think im doing kph, i would notice if i was doing 70kmph on the motorway! :p

Confused by tyre speed ratings / legality - please help!
i think im having a dumb day today, but here is the jist of it. My car failed the mot due to camber problems and i needed 4 tyres to get through the mot. i bought a set of 225's to go all the way round on 17" rims. the fronts were spot on, the rears are far, far too small so am looking at purchasing some proper tyres for the size rims that I have now on mytyres.co.uk I purchased the following for the front Kumho Summer tyres ECSTA SPT KU31 225/45 R17 94Y XL BSW now iirc, the Y is for the speed rating, correct? I wanted to purchase the same tyres for the rear, and found the following. Kumho Summer tyres ECSTA SPT KU31 255/45 R17 98W According to that, the rears have a lower speed rating (front = Y = 186Mph) (rear = W = 168Mph) Now, I know you cant have say speed rating Y on front nearside and W on the front farside - but it there any legality of different speed ratings on the front as opposed to the rear?

MOT Failure due to Tyre Wear (Camber issues)
the rears appear to be ok, im just thinking putting a new pair on and watching the tyres like a hawk. - if the rear is out of line then ill go for the rear uppers. so bare min i can get away with really is - 4 tyres - adjustable front upper arms (Powertrix/SPL) - adjustable front tension rods (Powertrix/SPL) at least then, i can relaign the camber the same way is if i had lowered springs on there.
