  1. I second what geeky_hawkes said. When I picked my Z up after buying it I needed to fill up on the way home - spent far too long at the pump looking like an idiot because the thing kept cutting out! The guys at the counters usually blame people for having an itchy trigger finger, but I've since found that pulling the pump head out slightly means I can crank the flow to the max and it still cuts out fine when the tank is full.
  2. Thanks to those who aided my search for a Z (I didn't go for the import with the possible propshaft problem) I'm now the proud owner of a black, stock '93 UK TT. I'll post some pics once I've taken them - the recent rain has left it covered in a layer of dust :( I've just bought some PIAA silicon wipers (as recommended by speedemon) and a replacement scuttle trim (don't worry I didn't pay the £300 Nissan wanted for the parts!). Next on my hitlist are some new wheels, ICE (nothing works right now) and a re-trim. I was wondering if anyone knew of good places around Reading or surrounding areas for ICE and an interior re-trim. On the whole the trim is in great condition, but the gearstick, leather gater and front seats are showing their age. I was thinking Alcantara leather for the centre and hide for the sides... Any top tips much appreciated!
  3. It was definitely a TT - had a good poke around with the bonnet up.
  4. Cheers. If I do buy one here I'll see if whoever it is will give you your 10% ;)
  5. Scubie, that is a top tip :) Legrath thanks - especially for the tip about the nearest specialist.
  6. Dave, it's not that the turbo gauge isn't working, there just plain isn't one! It's a 1995 Fairlady Z import and from the bit of digging I've done I don't think the dash include one with this model, but I might be wrong about that.
  7. I'm looking at buying a Z and I test drove an import today. There were two obvious problems and one confusion on my part: 1) at low speeds in second gear there was vibration through the seat (I'm thinking prop shaft?) 2) at about 80 mph in fourth there was a vibration that seems to affect the whole car, rather than just being felt through the seat. The gearstick shook and the steering wheel vibrated as well, it felt like the car would lurch all over the place if I didn't keep a tight grip on the wheel (not a great feeling on the motorway) I'm not sure if these are related, or if one could be wheel alignment and the other something else (wouldn't expect wheel alignment to cause a vibration from under the car). Can anyone offer up any wisdom on these two issues? I don't think it's purely down to tracking/wheel balance or alignment. Basically, I'm concerned it's something more expensive! Also, the confusion was that there was no turbo gauge, so is there any simple way to check the state of, or performance of the turbos without seeing the boost on idle and then when being pushed? Thanks in advance. S.
