Hi Guys,

I nearly always use the same petrol garage, a BP garage just round the corner from where I live.

I have noticed that when I fill up my car with BP ultimate the petrol pump keeps clicking as if my petrol tank is full. Every time I get petrol, im fighting with it to get it to work properly. More often than not, I have to gentlty sqeeze the trigger in order for it to work, but takes ages to fill up more car!

I have filled up elsewhere ages ago and didnt have these problems.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Would it be their pumps or something to do with my petrol filler?

turn the pump

if you imagine a clock face, and normally the bottom of the pump is at 6 turn it so its at 4 or 5

that should sort it

Its the pump....its does that on my car sometimes so i have to turn the pump round alittle then its ok

or just pull it out slightly. The pump head is sealing too tight in your zed and as the fuel gos in the air can not escape so forces the pump into thinking your car is full.

I second what geeky_hawkes said. When I picked my Z up after buying it I needed to fill up on the way home - spent far too long at the pump looking like an idiot because the thing kept cutting out!

The guys at the counters usually blame people for having an itchy trigger finger, but I've since found that pulling the pump head out slightly means I can crank the flow to the max and it still cuts out fine when the tank is full.

Thanks guys

I find that by pulling the the pump head out does help but it still cuts out. I must hold the trigger down half way otherwise it keeps cutting out. If the pump is fully in its dame right impossible!

Next time, I will try and hold the pump at an angle as suggested by T-Pot.

Many thanks

Yep, this works every time for me, in fact I don't even bother to hold it straight anymore, always at the 4 O'Clock position.

U learn something everyday !!

Always got wound up by this one - especially since owning the Zed

Will try these tricks next time I have to fill up

Cheers Guys

All I need now is a trick on how not to spend over £50.00 on unleaded plus every time I fill up from near empty :)

2 months ago i forgot to put the petrol cap back in and just flipped the flap back. Had a petrol leak, oops a daisy.

Doh! Did you do the classic and rest the cap on top of the car and lose that as well when you drove off?
