  1. might have got some dett and melted a plug, have you checked them?
  2. i was thinking exactly along the pickup line too. the one think i dont like about most wide arch kits is the flat section at the top of the arch, looks like a bit of an after thought to me and doesent quite fit. i have been thinking about it for my shortie though at some point. needs the right wheels to pull it off
  3. welcome to the club mate. i assume by ms2 you mean mega squirt, i dont know if anyone on here is running it but i know a bit about it from other projects ive done. the last time i looked into it most nissan engines are a bit tricky due to the cam position sensor, i think most people would not use it and fit an alternative system to the crank pulley. there is no reason why you could not use the original ecu or perhaps the emerald system which has recently been developed. the vg30dett is as tunable engine as the sr20, rb26 or 2jz but the main problem is the size issue, unless there is alot of room width wise across the engine bay you will struggle with the turbos. at this power level you would need to replace the pistons at least and most would advise replacing the rods too although the std ones are forged. alot of the American companies like z1 can do engine build kits and turbo kits for this power level. to be honest though i would have thought it would be easyer to fit a 2jz, rb26 or even a 1jz or rb25 as they are a straight 6 like was originally fitted to the bmw. good luck though
  4. i thought for a second you had bought an rs1600 (mk1) good future classic there
  5. gliphosate is the stuff, you can buy it at countrywide but you have to ask
  6. thanks mate, my swimming is rubbish, for the triathlon i need to swim 400m, i can do this fine but not fast. about 13 mins to be exact at the moment. ive been told i will easily get this under 10. as for the running i was reasonable about 4 years ago but done very little since. i think im going to try to get it done in 2 hours, 10 for the swim an hour on the bike and 50 for the walk (run). i think if i dropped about a stone in weight it would make things a lot easier- im 5'10 and about 13 stone oh well. ill try and keep you all updated with the progress
  7. Just started training for a triathlon. i used to be a good cyclist when i was younger. im now 31 and slightly over weight and unfit. just been out with the club tonight and im dead, got a bad cramp in my calf and can hardly walk. anyone else done this before, please tell me it gets easyer. triathlon is in 9 weeks time, is this anywhere like enough time?
  8. i would put in some cheap stuff and run it with some forte engine flush for about 40 mins (idle only) then put in the good stuff. i think you can buy flushing oil. you wont do any damage putting in the cheap stuff if its not going to get really hot. this is what i will do when putting the car back on the road
  9. those are a set teins i guess, ive freed off one set before, the only way possible was with a big set of stiltsens. dont heat them because they are gas filled. penetrating oil is what you really want, wd40 aint up to the job really
  10. that bit of plate is not really structural, it should not have fiber glass filling it but it wont cause the car to fall in half
  11. ah its a photoshop, hence the two strut braces
  12. is that an evo with a vg in it
  13. all very std rust especially for a uk car. the front part you just found is a very simple skin. if its rusted through then for mot it will just need a patch and should be real cheap. i've removed this panel on my swb while im sorting out some other rust, its easy to do if you just drill out the spotwelds. cut one out of a breaker and it should be as good as new. rear sill look the same as most
  14. Has anyone ever experimented with any aftermarket braces for the zed. i was thinking along the lines of the nismo powerbrace (200sx) and perhaps a x brace type thing locating all the front suspension points. i will be making one up out the back a brace could be made up to locate the rear of the transmission tunnel to the subframe pickups. just an idea i was also thinking of making up a solid disc to replace the rubber disk in the steering columb, this again is popular on the s13
  15. i need one for my shortie
  16. lots of work has been going on. ill have to sort out my photos and update tonight
  17. dont think either of mine have one, i was thinking of making one though
  18. i have done quite a bit while helping out on restoring my dads car, which coincidently is an etype, its hard to get right and if you are not careful you will leave acid behind which can cause problems. there is nothing wrong with modern fillers and they are a lot lighter and easyer to use. i will however be doing a bit of lead loading on the zed
  19. not a big job at all mate, if i lived closer id pop over and do it for you, there must be someone local with a drill
  20. Thats exactly what i wanted mate, it is indeed a little different from the lwb. the bracket for the bumper on that is flush with the panel. could i be cheeky and ask you to measure the length of the bracket from the center of the hole back to the body. your effort will go towards the resurrection of another swb
  21. ive got a rib, only a baby 12' er with a 30hp outboard but its amazing fun. it will get up onto the plane with 3 on board and does around 30 knots. use it down in south wales usually
