Changing Targa trim moulding today...
It's the moulding that runs level with those little mouldings andlevel with the windscreen moulding. I managed to get it done but I can see a gap at one of the ends in between rubber and glass so I'm predicting a pond in my car soon. having said that, with that screw crumbiling I can only assume it had been letting water in all along and letting is just swish about and slowly leak into the cabin. Not fast enough to cause a puddle though. Lol, luckily I haven't been trapped inside the car yet.

Changing Targa trim moulding today...
Dunno if many of you have done this before but it involved taking the whole targa top apart. Nasty. I got to the bit where I had to unscrew the screws that keep the rubber on the aluminium (http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/13701.html - part 6) and one of the screws had rusted itself to tiny iron filings. Although the other side of the screw was fine so I just couldn't undo it. Made the whole job a right bugger. Anyone else find that there's always something totally stupid hindering you when the job should be very straightforward? I also changed my yellow wing repeaters for clear ones and the slot for the bulb holder is different so I had to chop the old one off then attach the new ones instead of it being a straight swap. It's never simple is it!

Fast and Furious Tokyo drift clip
The main characters in the film, are they meant to be 17-19? Cus in the other films the characters were all late 20 - early 30's. But that guy who plays the main character is about 24. Its like Dawsons creek!

Urgent central locking help... engineer here right now!
Is yours a 90 or 91? Mines a J91 so they should be the same right? I'll show him the thread and the pictures you posted. I don't wanna risk taking the card off myself for fear of not getting it back on again. Thanks again.

T-Pot thanks a lot for the help and thanks for the concern. You have (will have if you read this too fast) PM.

Urgent central locking help... engineer here right now!
So his lack of knowlege on this subject could simply be that as yet he wouldn't have fitted an alarm on a car like this before. What qualifications do you need to be an alarm fitter? Or is there some alarm fitting course? I'm just (again) wondering as it is strange that if it is so easy that he doesn't know how to do it. I mean I'm pretty sure that he IS a registered toad fitter and not just some guy masquarading as one. Again Im not trying to say I'm right by sticking with him or anything I really am just wondering... I do wonder a lot.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong and I do realise you're all looking out for me and I thank you for that but purely out of interest does anyone know what other cars would need the same method as the zed for connecting alarm to central locking? This is just me wondering now, nothing to do with the engineer.

It's all about putting the time in. It don't take much (in terms of commitment and responsibility) to be a bio-dad.

Urgent central locking help... engineer here right now!
The alarm is fitted and works fine. When he went to connect it to the central locking he said that because the central locking doesn't work from the passenger door he'd have to add a solenoid motor to the drivers side. He took off the door card and (now remember I have no idea about this stuff) he said there was a problem because the locking mechanism is a cable or something. He wasn't sure if you had to attach the motor to the actual lock or the cable I think. Now I'm sure that he could put it in he just wants to do it the definative 'correct' way. I have every confidence in him as an alarm fitter its just this little detail that needs to be correct. Thanks for your concerns about the quality of the engineer but could I politely steer the thread away from a 'get a new engineer' thread and back to a 'this is the best way to do it thread', as I'm sure he won't enjoy reading most of it so far and he seems like a nice person. Thanks Al.

Urgent central locking help... engineer here right now!
So lets say I buy a zed (which I did). It doesn't have an alarm so I get one fitted. Since it doesn't have full central locking I can't simply connect the alarm to the controller. So I need a door motor. 1. Is there a certain type I need? The engineer says he can get a slimmer solenoid motor. Also is a '2 wire' solenoid a certain type of motor or the only type of motor? 2. Is there anything at all that I need? mounting brackets? Holes to drill? These questions may seem a bit silly now as the engineer has gone and I said I'd try and find an exact way of doing it for him. He got the clifford instructions but they're really vague.

The clifford manual says that to do remote central locking on a 91 import zed you need to add a door motor to the drivers side. But it doesnt tell you where to do put it. Could anyone please give a description of how to attach the door motor or a picture? If you could that would be great. Thanks, Al

Hey is that funny? I peeled the backing back slightly and the letters all seemed seperate. I'm only asking cus I'm too lazy to have another look. And since I'm not going to stick them on right now I'll probably ruin the stickiness.

Come On England!!!!!!!!!
Why don't you like Joe Cole? I wonder what the brazilian media are saying!? We all know that teams rasie their game. Remember the champions have to be able to play badly and win. As for crouchy lets wait till his average drops below 1 in every 2 games before we start slagging him off. But what a difference having proper wingers makes! Does anyone else listen to the half time studio discussion and wonder if sven actually thinks the same thing as them?

Cost of linking alarm to central locking...
I asume it is fitted properly. The guy is a registered toad dealer and has a buisness local to me. I found him on bestplace on the net and he's on yell.com too.

Cost of linking alarm to central locking...
I payed 250 quid for the job (toad ai606). Woud that be too much if I only payed for the alarm (and not having it linked to central locking)? Just wondering whether I should get it done elsewhere or keep badgering the guy to reseurface on the planet and finish off the job. I did pay him based on that he'd get it linked to the central locking.

NZR who watched the England game?
Don't trust any ref that looks like a pizza salesman. England don't open tournaments well. So lets be happy that they played badly (second half) and won - the trademark of championship winning teams. I'm kinda glad they didn't play really well and get all the hype up.
