pcv valves can be taken out and cleaned in petrol, normally all thats needed. another thought have the cars mentioned been de catted at all? This can cause the seals to blow and smoke. it is possible to remove passenger side turbo (right hand drive cars)but it is a real pita of a job, driver side no way. far easier and quicker in the long run.

not necessarily as some dump valves are adjustable either by a skrew at the back or by placing shims behind the spring to adjust the spring tension
