fan thermostat
If done right a bigger rad and decent electric fan is better for a modified car in my opinion. I've got a massive power enterprise rad and a 20" pacet fan. It keeps the temp well in check. On the track, in the alps, in traffic in summer no problems. Just the rad on its own keeps the temp down when moving. My opinion, get a massive quality rad, a decent large quantity fan with decent thermostat control and decent glycol based coolant. Cheers Danny

Highly modified 94 uk tt manual
Well folks, the day has finally come. After 7 years of epic ownership, the time has come to sell the greatest car ive ever had the pleasure of owning. Reason for sale, kind of backed into a bit of a corner financially, and this is my ticket out. Guts me to have to do this, but ive been putting it off for the last few years. So, here goes. Ill do another thread and link it here about my Z story, for those that care. But for this thread, ill get down to business. Car belonged to markzx, a previous member on here and quiet well known at the time of building this Z. He did all the major work and ive just finished it off how I wanted and kept it maintained. Phil and blackmoor service station (previously of C&S woods and builder of a good few highly modded Z,s on here) did the major work for mark, and has continued to keep it on top form and looked after it for me. Car is UK 1994 manual (converted), its series 4 and last of the UK spec with the charcoal grey leather, but no airbags and emmisions rubbish that came on the later spec. Mileage on the clock is 159000, however the current engine and gearbox has done around 45000, and all suspension parts, bushes etc have been uprated along the way. Comes with full mot and has just had both rear sills professionally repaired and has new tyres all round ( bridgestone S02). So that's the base car. The mods: Suspension Blitz springs (lowered 30mm) Koni Pro Sport ajustable shocks Full poly bush kit SPL ajustable front camber arms SPL ajustable front tie bars Whiteline ajustable rear camber kit Hicacs Removed. I spoke at lengths with the previous owner and the mechanic and this car was the culmination of many years of experience and Z/other sports car ownership by Mark. The spec list was very carefully researched and chosen to be an everyday porche beater (the words of mark, and back when it was built, that was true, some quick poches out there now like). The engine produces just over 400bhp and similar torque, the boost comes on smooth but hard and pulls really well. Not the most powerful car out there but its built and tuned to last. This spec is capable of running 500bhp+ as plenty of owners on here are doing. But this car has been and will continue to do this for years. And its never missed a beat. I have used the car for what it was intended and built for. It has done trackdays, drag days, even competed in ten of the best were it got 4th in handling, 8th in top speed run and 9th in 1/4 mile, in rear wheel drive class, and one of the few cars running FULL road spec and standard interior. It has also done countless uk roadtrips with mates, misses, even parents and has recently returned from the nurburgring and a 2500 mile trip of europes best driving roads. A stag do kind of trip were i had 2 Ferrari f430,s for company. The Z did very well both on the straights and on the bends, of which there were many. It coped very well with the heat and thin air at altitude and even stole the show in a few towns with the bonnet up. So, to sum up. Its been a dream car to own, never landed any major bills other than the usual stuff. Always maintained regardless of cost, its been used but not abused. THE PRICE!!! Way back in 2008 this car was up for sale on here for £10000. It needed some tlc so i managed to get it for £9000. Its had a recent respray, all new tyres, front brakes, service, nismo cambelt, plugs, all fluids and filters changed on a major service 2000 miles ago. You can buy this car and drive away straight to a track, the nurburgring, the alps, a show and shine, whatever takes your fancy. Im looking for offers around £10000, i realise that may seem ambitious and that the money put into cars is rarely retuned on sale. But like i said, offers around. Phil the mechanic has said he can verify all the work that's gone into the engine and rest of the car as i only got limited actual paper history when i got the car. Didn't bother me as i knew phil from my previous Z ownership. There it is folks, sorry its a long read, i could, and probably have gone on forever but its been my passion for so long, wanted to be thorough. Ill put as many pics on as i can but ive got thousands. any questions/suggestions, let me know. Cheers Danny 07584664141

nurburgring and European driving advice
Sounds good, the more I read the more it excites me. Cant wait. What about fuel around the ring and Europe? Do they have vpower over there or do I need to take octane boost? Thanks Danny

nurburgring and European driving advice
Hi all, though I am selling the Z later this year, thought it would be a great send off to go to the ring. Been invited on a stag do which is a road trip including the nurburgring. So looking for any tips, advice or general help in the topic. Doing a few evening laps of the ring, then Austria, Switzerland then long drive back. Over 5 nights in June. Recon the cars up for it as it's done plenty of UK trackday, and 10 of the best a few times. Plus a good few UK road trips in the heart of summer. Quiet highly moded so Ok with the car. Unless there's anything special ya think I'd need. And help appreciated. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best! TOTB14: 25-26th July 2015
Forgot I come that high on the handling coarse. It's amazing what you get on the drag strip with a stock motor noz. Fair play. It's still my favorite event of the year this. Everyone should try it. You'll be hooked. Danny

Ten Of The Best! TOTB14: 25-26th July 2015
Sorry guys, won't be competing. The time has finally come to sell the Z. I'm hoping to be there for the weekend anyway to help support the club. It's a gutting situation having to sell but needs must. So I'll be attending in an estate car of some kind. So if anyone needs stuff taking up there ,let me know. Cheers Danny

refitting aircon
That's a great diagram. We're does all that stuff dwell? Assume there's something behind the dash? So dash out? How hot does the air con rad get. Is it going to affect cooling to the main rad? Cheers guys. Danny

refitting aircon
Sure this has been asked and covered before. But I can't find it on the search so thought I'd ask again. The previous owner and maker of my Z removed the aircon, all of it. I assume in the pursuit of better cooling. I want it back. From what I can see the only part that could be a problem is the radiator/condenser? Have an aftermarket rad and oil cooler and the car runs fine. Even on hot days. On the odd roasting trackday it creeps up. So do I just put all the stock ac kit back on (what do I need and were does it go?) Or is there a compact ac rad or a smaller 1 off a different car I can plum in out of the main airflow? Please save the 'I think ac is rubbish and you don't need it' comments. I love my Z but on hot days (only days it gets used) ts like a furnace on long journeys. Any advice welcome on this. Don't want to sacrifice the cooling of the car, but want ac to complete it as an all round car. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
Didn't we all. Be great if the gtst boys want to play next year as well. Knew this would start some decent inter club rivalry. Great stuff. And plenty of time and interest between now and next year to have a real good team. Despite my ever growing addiction to motorsport, my car WILL remain fully road spec. Full interior, sound system etc. Although I do remember bob saying that years ago at totb. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
A bit belated but we'll done bob, and all other Z,s who turned up to compete or support. What you've achieved in that white demon bob is amazing. And like has. Been said, there's still more to come. Role on next year that's what I say. I'll be doing a full weekend, with hopefully a quaffe diff, lighter seats, better tyres and a remap. Obviously I'm not selling up anymore. Cheers Danny

Sadly Neil who was going to join has blown 3rd on his gearbox. Been on the edge of that for a while with that power I imagine. So unless be can get a replacement fited in time he won't be competing but will be at the event. I'll be getting there for 9am. Know that's a bit late but best I can do. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
Here's an interesting 1. A friend of mine with a rather tasty Z wants to join us on the totb team. Called Neil from Chorley with a yellow kitted Z (veilside I think) and in the region of 580bhp. Thinks he's got the td06,s. he isn't a member on here, does he need to sign up here, then join the team on straightliners or can he just enter and join us there. He's been in 2 minds about entering but when I told him it's against the gto boys he was in. What you guys think, he's a nice guy and has an amazing Z. Plenty of show and go. Be a worthy addition. Also can't seem to find a sign on time in the site. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
Registered this morning. Happy days, can't believe how cheap it is for such an event. Had a full respray since last year,so may not be any quicker but certainly look better. Any idea what time we have to arrive Sunday morning by the way? Looking forward to this now, just hope we get the weather, or there's no point against 4wd. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
Ok thanks for that. Should be ok in a few weeks. Just a bit tight at the minute. Can't wait fir this though. Could be the start of club wars at totb. Other than the evo vs Subaru of coarse. Cheers Danny

Ten Of The Best 300ZX V GTO Competition
I'm in, not selling the Z now. Love it to much. Plus I love a bit of club rivalry. Can only do Sunday though. If Noel can do a quick remap before the event all the better. If not I'll be same as then. Cheers Danny

electric fan wiring?
Cheers for that mate. Really not well up on electronics, so I kind of need a simpletons step by step wiring guide. As in, this is were to wire this, and plug this in there etc. And quick. Lol. Trying to get it done for japfest. Thanks for tbe switch info though. I'll get it ordered. Danny

electric fan wiring?
Need some help, my electric fan is wired through a thermostat to a permanent live. So on a hot day it keeps spinning long after the engines switched off. Not to bad of a thing for engine bay temps but bad news for the odessey battery. Just got a new 1 on so don't want it killing everything I switch off the car. So, what I need, is best place fir an ignition live under the bonnet, and is there a switch I can buy so I can override on really hot days, but not 1 that if I forget to switch, fan won't come on. Know there's been loads of threads on viscous vs electric fans, not interested in any of that. So any advice welcome. Cheers Danny

light weight propshaft alu or steel
Just out of interest bob, what 1/4 mile times did ya get when you had 666bhp and road tyres etc. I have stock ratios, full interior, and S02 tyres on. And about 410bhp, 12.7@ pod is my best. I would say grip off the line is the weakness, did look into the n.a. diff, but didn't seem worth looking the cruising rpm for more wheelspin (potentially) recon the quaffe with standard ratios would be interesting to see. Specially with your power and grip. Cheers Danny
