Hey all,

I thought I'd start one of these threads as there has not been one for a while!!;)

I have driven my ZX virtually every day for the last 9 days and it is running superbly. It sounds great, drives as it should, pulls like a train on demand and the auto 'box operates smootly and responsively. (Plus owing to the weather it's also still clean...........) Perfect!!!:D

Come on, let's hear a few more happy ZX stories rather than problems etc.............:p

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hehe. True. :)

Sure looks good in the pictures. Just glad you saw the light and didn't go with your 'looks like underseal' 2-tone paint idea. Looks spot on now. :D

Yeah what a mistake that would have been, think i was on something that day

Ooooo and the G box is out at the mo, Trying to fit my rps max clutch, what a C**t the dam thing wont go back in grrrrr. Spent the afternoon washing gbox oil off my whole body. looked like i was ready for a bodybuilding show.

That's the good weather for you! Mine's out of MOT, ran out last week!! Grrrrrrrrrrr! Didn't have time to get it done before I went away. So not driving it at the moment. MOT is on Saturday, should pass. So drive-time again. Will make the most of this Indian Summer!

Other than my HICAS fault, mine's been absolutely fantastic though, been running like a gem. So happy with new suspension too. I think I'll do an oil change on it this weekend. :)

One month he's in America the next he's in bloody India :rofl:

Well my zed may handle like a bag of bolts but it's still winning me the zclub drag racing championships so i can't complain at all it's awesome :hyper:

My zed was gone for months being repaired :( However when i finally got it back, it had lots of lovely stale fuel in it, which did'nt help the situation, however i drove it round for its new MOT etc very carefully and burned up all the shit fuel, lol. Then i started using higher octane fuel as i had a EBC fitted. Which was like a breath of fresh air......:D

I then had a couple more bloody problems, which ground me down to breaking point :( That may sound like nothing to some of you, but bloody hell i could'nt get the help i needed! Anyway after asking about i solved on of my problems which was an idle problem. And then i was having a throttle jamming open problem and yes you guessed it, it was the same as the sticky Legrath posted, so thanks to David for that :D Bit of loctite and it was finished.

THEN i fitted my new suspension and my Strosek front, then i could'nt get on my bloody drive, so i managed to get a 99-spec from Paul@SWZ and with a very quick spray job done on it, the car was ready to be ENJOYED again.

I have now used it a few times a week for the last few weeks and it has been absolutely superb, its not let me down once, it is just like when i first bought it - PERFECT :D

Anyway most of that was depressing, lol, but hey it had a happy ending :D:D:D

I use mine as a daily driver the only problems ive come accross have been made by me changing stuff and fidling, if i leave it alone its fine.

I have owned my ZX for just over a year now, although its my 2nd car and doesn't get used too much, it hasn't so much as missed a beat when used. It was fully serviced just after I bought it, chipped+boost jetted to 14.5psi!

I have had the odd problem though, but they were all self-inflicted by ME messing around!

Reading this forum can cause paranoia, makes you think that all 300zx's break down, leak or just run badly all the time.

Same on all forums with all cars. Concentrated reporting of problems.

Stock one's probably about the best you'll find. All the rest look like they were designed for a 1980s Atari /Commadore Joystick manufacturer. lol

So true........:D

The best option IMO is the stock leather auto shifter from a series 2 car. I bought a mint one for £20 off of AndyZ last year....

Been driving mine daily for the last 12months+ mot next month will fail as there is a slight crack near my 12month old rose mounted tention rods (probally a bit firmer than stock, lol) thats all that I know.

Only off the road as insurance ran out yesterday, tax is also out end of the month. Just had to spend £250 on my vans mot and tax (2nd car not used for work hardly driven about 800 miles last year) and with a redundancy letter from work last week could'nt justify the zed to be used for the foreseable future although I have had my insurance give me a quote for the next 30 days :)

Which tension rods did you use? Thats a majour accident waiting to happen!!

The 300ZX is an absolute classic - it still looks far better than a lot of crap that's being produced these days.

I've been lucky, I guess, to find a really nice 96 SWB TT which runs like a dream *grabbing for a chunk of wood*

Enjoy driving it ? Ohhhh yes

well my TT was parked up in a field for most of the last 2 years...pulled the engine earlier in the year did belts n tubs n all sorts of jobs body work and zorst....back in...small coolant leak re-did gasket...mot pass first time...driven everyday since not missed a beat :D

powertrix adjustable tension rods.............

I know, I don't drive hard though :wack:

Just think the new rods are a bit stiffer than the old car expected.

With new uprated parts weak spots will become apparent more sooner than later :)

Mine runs really well too. Ok, so it's a second car and doesn't see much daylight in the winter but it did get a thorough workout this summer. I went on holiday in it with hotels organised and a detailed route book from Calais to Budapest via Verdun, Vosges Mountains, Black forest, Austrian Alps (including the Grossglockner pass!) and Slovenia. It then did the 1000 mile trip back to Calais in one 15 hour hit (needed to get back in a hurry to sort out a bit of a domestic crisis!). We drove on the kind of roads that the Z must have been designed for and had a fantastic time (mountain roads and rear wheel drive.... mmmm, must go back for another fix soon!!) and all this without a single car related hitch. 2500 miles in 8 days - not bad for an 18 year old car.

Excellent stuff! I've not taken my Z any further than central and west coast France unfortunately, but I have made the drive across Europe into Hungary (mother's side of the family in Hungarian) so I know how amazing the drive through all the tunnels is in the Alps!
