Hi folks, long time no see

Last night, when I was reversing up my driveway, the engine cut out. It stopped at the exact moment when the rear wheels made contact with the kerb.

I suspect that maybe some sort of electrical connection has become dislodged. When I turn the key, the starter motor goes, but the engine just won't fire up.

Anyone got any ideas? I've checked the connections for the CAS and PTU, but they seem fine.

Thanks,

Dave

fuel pump? its in the boot so maybe the jolt on the curb disrupted somehting?

fuel pump fuse?

check all fuses.

check if you have a spark.

and if no joy do a cas test. take off cas and turn the spindle to see if you hear the injectors clicking if not then its cas related. If you do this test remember to mark the exact location of where the cas was sitting or youl have to adjust the timing again with a gun.

Have you got an alarm immobiliser?

Thanks j1mmytt.

I've checked the fuel pump connections and they seem ok. I've also checked the fuses and they seem fine.

I do have an immobiliser, but that seems to be working - at least the LED switches off when I insert the ignition key.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Hey mate check your PTU cables disconnect them and give them a clean also CAS cable.

Mine did this and sat in the garage for 2 weeks and it turned out to be a dodgy PTU connection.

Just a wildcard...but does it chug at all? Maybe you flooded the cylinders?

Nope, no chugging. There's just nothing, it just wont fire up :(

Hi Dave, long time no see. As you know im not very technical lol, but when you turn the ignition on, can you hear the fuel pump?. I know on some cars, you can hear them pressurise.

Barry

Well have you checked that your getting a spark, and that injectors are clicking? You need to iliminate the possibilities, also check the fuel pump is making noise like he mentioned above.

Also when the starter motor turns over what does it sound like?

The fuel pump is making a noise and I have checked all fuses (forgot about the drivers kick panel) and they seem ok.

Thanks for the tip about the ECU codes - I'll check that next.

Big thanks to PhilZ at Blackmoor Service Station for finding the problem and lending me a PTU to get me back on the road. Also to Mark 'Topless' for selling me a replacement one - both top guys
