Decisions, decisions...

thinking about getting another car...not telling the wife though...

However I'm at a cross roads...

To the left of me, is the BMW850 V12. Great car, great looks, lousy MPG, not particularly practical.

To the right is the R33 Skyline GTR. To my mind the prettiest skyline to date.

Straight ahead, an EVO 8 fq 300.

All have bags of power, all kill trees and contribute to the warm weather we've been enjoying, all have 4 seats at least.... Granted in the skyline or beemer, you can't be more than 3'5" tall to fit properly....

If you had a choice what would it be, and I don't do track days....it'd be another fun car.

If you go 8series, get the csi(closest to M series) over the ci. Id love an 8 series :( Don't know if anyone noticed a 850csi in last week top gear? Parking in the multi storey car park...

I'd have the 850 too. As much as I can appreciate the Evos, I just don't find them visually appealing at all really. The new Evo 10 looks good, but I'm never in awe at the appearance of compact sport saloons. The Skyline is good, but let's face it, they are hardly exclusive anymore.

840 or 850 would be the one I'd have without questions. They have HUGE road presence, the engines are good and strong, you hardly ever see them on the roads (probably as much as Zs).

Put a supercharger on either and a good exhaust and they are transformed from swift GTs to monsters!

The 8 series was one of my 'final 3' when choosing the Z and I'd not hesitate at getting one. Would have to be an 840 though with manual transmission. AFAIK, the 850 was auto only.

I've always had a strong hankering for a 8 series, it nearly won the battle when I bought my current Zed. as said above 850csi is stunning, but only if you can find one. not many about and command loads more money. (there was also a few Alpinas) Also the csi is 5.7 with a 6 speed manual whereas all the other 850's are autos. I was looking at the later 840 with the 4.4 v8 as the engine and autobox is improved over the early 4.0 v8 (early 4.0 had bore wear problems)

Agree with Si, Evo's and Skylines are great but there parked on every street corner :D

850 more rare,

different kinda class car to the GTR and evo tho.

wouldnt compare them, different league of car.

850 is a classy vehicle, GTR not.

personally id have a GTR, but all depends on what you fancy.

evo's are really quick for a 2 lirte tho!

have to be the beemer, they got that something about them over the others.:)

dan.

Go for the EVO 8, awesome cars, very fast cars and so driveable, (I have one!!);)

850 for me unless you add an R34 to the list then I'm afraid the 850 comes 2nd ;)

Now for the spanner in the works - I have a 20 month old son also....

Then get the 4 door option, EVO 8:)

then get a full time nanny and see the kid on fridays for a couple of hours:D

The 8 series is a bit of a lardy dinosaur now, although I do like it. i imagine it would cost a fortune to run.

The Skyline and Evo would both be more praticle with the nipper, and quicker with better handling a more exciting to drive and cheaper to run.

I own a Beemer although it isnt the 850 its a lovely car as all their later models are I had a R33 even though it was the N/A I can reccomend them for style and handling but to be honest the EVO gets my vote for style and agility and pure bottom end power. Saw a 9 05 reg for £13.999 K today in red. almost signed up for it but I need the wife to stay as I cant Iron and hate washing up.

So EVO 8 but the 9 and 10 are even better.

Not on your list but for me i would buy a Porsche 928 :)

Another 928 fan:bow:

I always loved the 928, and looked at a few 5/6 years ago.............but I bought a ZX instead;)

I'd still buy one now if I sold my ZX..........however of the 3 choices presented, I'd have to pick the 850. I respect the Skyline for what it can do but in all honesty, I'd never have one as it just doesn't "do it" for me.

As for the Evo, again a geat track car but like a Scooby, they're as common as pigeon poo and just don't have that "special" factor. They are just plain saloon cars, albeit with mad engines and handling. Not for me, I'm afraid:slap:

The 850 is a classy GT car with comfort and refinement as well as pace and road presence.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

agree with all the above;)

EVO's are not nearly as common as Scooby's!! I shall take some pics of my EVO and show how good they can look!!

if a 20 month old son is going in it ..it has to be the Evo ..sods law states that if its going to happen it will ....i would much rather it happen in a 4 year old car thats been designed as a rally weapon ,than a 14 year old car designed for fast cruising......if its purely for looks and exclusivity its the BMW by miles ,

Got to be the Evo, best out of them all WRT performance. 8 series are old and hugely complex, not particularly reliable and likely to be a total nightmare money pit. Skyline is okay I guess but again it's old, times have moved on and the Evo has done just that, Evolved, it is better.
