Just a quicky :)

How many square meters do you need roughly to cover the dash panels and door cards on a lwb?

Cheers :duffer:

I think I used 3 metres length, don't know width but must be pretty standard from suppliers. However I was quite frugal and rearranged all the pieces to get the most from the least length. So 4 metres should give you plenty to play with.

Yep, same for be on my previous LWB, I bought 4 Metres but had loads left.

Leatherette is very cheap, like £7-£8 per metre. Leather is very expensive on the other hand, about £200 for a hide.

what is Leatherette like then? look the part?

i real fancy the interior in red, but dont want to spend £500 odd quid on leather!

can you do seats with Leatherette also?

There are several different types of leatherette. The more expensive it is the thicker it generally is. But the thinker it is the more of a bugger it is to shape. There are also one what are quite rough in texture and ones that are quite smooth. I have sampled quite a few fabrics and ending up going for a slightly thinner, textures Vinyl/Leatherette with soft backing. I have used the thicker stuff before which TBH looks a tad nicer, but is so much harder to get right and seems to peel of easier.

I used one entire hide of leather. Personally wouldn't use vinyl. There is some vinyl on the leather skins like on the production model, but vinyl doesn't feel the same, lay the same or smell the same. Plus it can look shiney.

Good if you want it done on a budget as from a distance it can look just as good. It's also easier to work with than leather if you're simply stretching it over the door cards. You can't really do that with leather and everything has to be cut/sewn to shape.

I did my first TT in Leather for the seats and Leatherette for the Panels. I was happy with both, but I defnatley would'nt do the seats in Leatherette. I paid more for my current retrimmed panels to be in leather though.

Easy fix Si.

1. Dont "feel" it, sure there some kinds a fetish going on ther for you.

2. Stick one of those leather air freshners in your car LOL

As you both said said, I would not do seats in Leatherette/Vinyl but for the door trims is a good DIY alternative to the tweed and looks 100% better (If done right, by a patient person)

Mind you I dont have it in mine, but only because I have the S3 Alcantara? i think.
