I would like to know just what has happened to our club?? There was one time when we had regular meets and not too bad a turn out at events but lately it as all gone Pete Tong. I love my car and I really like meeting other people with the same passion for the 300zx but it has all thinned out. I pay my subs just like many others but I feel that we are not getting our monies worth. We should be showing off the 300zx at all the national meets and I believe the reason we are not is down to our clubs meet organisers. Dont get me wrong im not trying to have a go at anyone, i'm sure we all have busy lives one way and another but I do believe that if someone has been chosen to look after the meets and events for all the club members to attend then something should be done. When I went to santa pod this weekend the turn out was poor considering the amout of members there are between the 300zx.co.uk and the zclub, which i must say thanks to as they where the only ones that did sort something for us 300 guys. So come on lets get things sorted so we can feel like a club. If nothing gets sorted soon then really I cannot see any reason to carry on paying to be a member because im not a paying member of the zclub but still I was able to obtain a pass for my car, If needed i will be willing to put myself forward along with slick pete and who knows maybe even bantam bunny to help sort things.

without prejudice ceejay

This year we are putting alot of time and money into JAE, and look how many names we have, not very many.

With all due respect Kim, lack of names for this event is NOT down to lack of enthusiasm, it's down to location. A number of other clubs are down on numbers too, whilst others maybe up. Unfortunately this new location is booked for the next 3 years, therefore can i suggest 2 things.

1) Either ask the members about an online AGM OR save it for a show that would have a bigger attendance.

2) The club should direct it's "alot of time and money" into Zedfest and Z009 as there is a far bigger chance of large attendance from the members as the locations are more Central, this being the MOST important factor to gain large numbers to any show

Cheers

Z009 kim ;) twill be a biggy next year!

maybe show the members where the time and money is going... show us what we are getting... what we have to look forward to etc??

Personaly I dont think it has anything to do with the forum, or who is organising the meets, or where the meets are or anything else other than the club members just cant be bothered.

3 years ago, if you posted up on a sunny sunday morning who fancies a pub lunch and a meet you would always have at LEST three people up for it. Or a curry night, or just a piss up one evening.

Now people dont want to know.

As has been said, I dont think this place is a club any more, its just another forum.

Shame really.

Many years ago it would have been easier to have regular meets. Peoples work constraints were not as demanding, It was not as hard to financially upkeep the cars and life was a lot less stressfull.

The thing is if people do want to attend larger national meets as part of the club, there is no reason that they cant. It might just mean those who particularily want to go, make sure they bump threads to try and get an interest going, look at how MadMarco pulled off Japfest, he worked hard and a good weekend was had by all the members that attended. He constantly made people aware of it and got interest going, once the interest is there its contagoeous and as the list grows more people want to go.

It does not cost anything to at least try, its been proven it can be done!

I love attending meets, large or small but the national ones are just so far away, its not so much the time to travel to them its the money...with petrol keep rising unless your super rich I think meets are going to suffer because of this:(For instance zedfest and jae within weeks on eachother and both well over 200miles each way for me, would love to attend both but just not possible really

The way fuel prices are going, we'll all be taking our zeds to meets this way in future:-

Reckon I hold the record on that

7times in the last 30 months

what we seem to be missing recently is pictures of other people's meets - i used to love going through the photos, even when they were from a totally different region, and they were what made you want to be part of a meet - to see all the Zs lined up and looking sexy and all the members standing around laughing with some Z part in one hand and a pint in the other. i think above all, meets and even just photos of meets, are what makes this a club and not just a forum.

When we started Zedfest about four years ago we decided to hold it in early September as JAE has always been held towards the end of July

The reason we did this was to allow a decent gap between the two events

We had booked the venue For the early part of Sept as per usual early in the year again so it would not be to near the JAE Date To give people a chance to spread out expenses

Low and Behold JAE had to change their date due to a big fall out with the East Of England Show Ground and moved the Jae Date onwards by Four Weeks

To me it was perfect if it had all gone on as planned with Z008 in May, JAE in July and Zedfest in September that was two months between each event.

But for me The moving of JAE is the thing that has screwed the whole thing

up and for only the second time in all the years since the 1994 launch of JAE I doubt if I will be going as I cant afford to give grounds for divorce by being away for two weekends so soon to each other

Thats how most of them come back from meet anyway LOL

ha too true m8

mine did:rofl:

I find attracting newer members to come down to meets a real problem. It just seems to be the same people every month, which on one hand is great, because we all get to know each other it forms a great atmosphere.

On the other hand, from an REO's point of view it is a touch disheartening.

As previously said, i dont think its the organisers, its very much the attitude of people not wanting to commit to anything. Im in a slightly more unique position where I have Madmarco, who is the REO on the zedclub for the SC are, and we both get on really well. Last months phoenix meet was ace as it was a bit of a joint meet for this club and the zed club, and i hope its something we can continue.

I dont know how I personally can improve things, but its something im going to spend to some time thinking about!

Let me know when you find a solution nick...organised a karting meet and there was loads going, easily enough to hold a grand prix, then few days b4 the excuses start coming....really does my head in..constantly trying to please and make good meets but always get let down:headvswal

We do still have a fair few people attending but looks like will be only 4 z'ds:cry: but we are determind to have a great day anyway:dance:

Not one member from cornwall attending or any from further up the sw....might think about giving up my role as REO cos its just pointless!

Just re name it 'Plymouth' area!

I used to travel hundreds of miles to meets i made it to the brighton boxhill one in 2003 (about 400 miles)where we had i think 52 zeds if i remember right, then a massive covoy through brighton to boxhill. Ive also been to some northern meets too, as well as mids and nationals.

Having said that all of these were when i lived at home with mummy and daddy! Now i have my own responsibilities, A Mrs, A baby, One on the way, a dog, a rabbit, and a new businees which im at 12 hour a day 7 days a week i just dont have the time or energy.

Since i opened the shop the Z has done 5 miles in 3 months, it hasnt been a daily driver car for years but now weve got 4 cars and soon to have a van too, she sees very little use.

I should sell it i guess but i cant bring myself to, was speaking to Chunk the other day and hes the same with his, it just sits there and he cant bring himself to sell his either.

I know a few people, myself included, have had run ins with the clubs mods and commitee members and because of all the forum politics etc so it makes it difficult to summons up the will to attend some of the meets. You think to yourself it would be nice to see X again but you dont want to see Y or Z cos you dont like them etc.

I found this thread the other day and i thought that it summed up a few peoples feelings on what it means to be a member or not on here, i think many of the reasons people havent re subbed is the same as why they dont attend meets.

Heres one thought, new members are normally keener to make the meets than longstanding members, as they want to look and learn etc, so maybe the meets have slowed down as less people are buying zeds these days due to the economy, fuel prices etc?

Has the club seen a drop in new registrations say over the past year?
