Z-TECH is 168 miles from where I live and Zedworld is 260 odd miles away. Zedworld has done the previouse mods on the car before I bought it and done an ecu remap at 14 psi on stock turbo's, I emailed them and they said I was well safe at that boost, I then phoned Z-tech and they told me that it was to much boost and would probably need reconditioned turbo's, using 360 bearings, had the quote, between £1800 and £2000, i'm waiting for a reply from Zedworld as I want a quote from them too. Hopefully the dealer is going to contribute to the repair work that needs to be carried out ( I hope ), I dont think I would trust any mechanics around by me.:(

Leigh,

Your stock turbos are fine running 14psi boost (they max out at around 17psi but your injectors max out before that at 15psi so 14psi is quite safe). Provided your ECU was chipped correctly and you are running either boost jets or better yet, a boost controller, you are fine. Unless you are having running problems at the moment I don't see why Z-Tech would have recommended a turbo refurb ... ZedWorld ECU upgrades are safe and extensively tested.

im thinking of a name.. and it rhymes with dinner!

I like these games! Is it Whitney Houston?

I know Zedtech have new management, but had some serious issue in the past. Not sure I'd trust them, although there do appear to be improvements there.

Zedworld have HUGE experience. I've been up there myself and Jeff knows his stuff and is a genuine nice guy.

What Danny says is correct also.

Ztech seem to be doing ok now under new management. Zedworld have good rep for smaller jobs/maintenance and a long establised business - , I believe they tend to steer clear of bigger jobs though.

Jimmer got good reputation and is used a lot for engine rebuilds.

Smokey passenger exhaust and a bit of carbon deposits on the rear bumper.

What colour smoke? Could be compression test time :(

Can only sat from what i've had done to my car, and zedworld put new turbo's on my car last year and put a new (used) engine in my mate's ZED and we have not had any problem's.

I aint knocking them at all, still waiting on a quote off Zed world

Ok it could either be rear turbo seal on its way out or cracked ring lands on the pistons, due to running high boost on aged pistons. Compression test first and go from there....

I will get a compression test done first. The car seems not to smoke all the time only now and again, doesn't smoke when cold, and hardly ever when warm and never on boost, only ever seem to notice it sometimes when I reverse and then it sometimes starts smoking on idle, then the smoke will just dissapear. Just ordered a set of pcv's and hoses, could this make a differance?

For the cost of the valves and hoses along with an hour or so, it's gotta be worth trying mate as the worse case could be big money, so good luck :)

Keep us posted how you get on.
