Been having a crap time at home and work due to me getting divorced and having made my spouse a major shareholder and director of the company many years back.

So I gave Spare parts a run out today and pull in the the petrol station to fill up with V-power and did just that. only to realise 4ft from the pump that i'd actually put £59.52 of V-power diesel in it. :headvswal :headvswal

Spent rest of day getting recovered and draining and flushing it out.

What amazed me was how fast it went from tank to engine. Due to the fact that it is a presurised fuel rail on a continuas loop. 4 feet is litterally how far I got. Fingers crossed hat no lasting harm is done.

I don't think you're the first person to do that - in fact I seem to recall it being a regular occurrence because the pumps look so similar..

I'll have the diesel!

Gone strait in my friend John's 7.5ton truck. I was going to put it in my pickup truck but was told that the contaminated Derv would do it serous harm. Aparently the new generation Comon rail diesels just don't like it and the pumps tend to spit out their dummies.

Have nearly done it myself.

Why can't they make the pumps more obviouse.

Square for diesel perhaps.

Darrell

Been there and done that, only 30 sheets mind, day of work, a toe, took the CAS off and stood spinning it to drain it. Filled 5 jerry cans LOL. Realised in time and didn't start the engine, just pushed it embarissingly away from the pump LOL

I must admit, after doing it once I check, double check and triple check now. Check 6 times with a hangover LOL.

I go to the same petrol station twice a week and fill my Truck up with V-Power diesel and my mind was elsewhere. I just automatically picked up the pump I usually do and filled here up.

Black fuel hose is the clue!- easy to be smart until I do it one day!!

What happens when you are colour blind then?

Darrell

My local Shell station have recently had new pumps and all the hoses are black and all the nozzles are green  I have to look at the small sticker next to the pump now to check, which makes it easier to pick up the wrong one, easily done now !

No, but I have felt the consequences with that and a little rain on tarmac :nelson:

its not to bad putting diesel in a petrol is the other way round that gets very costly but hopefully no harm done !

"here lies the bones of colour jed, thought the lights were green when they were red" :D

Not sure whether I'm talking out of my backside or not but I'm sure that in Holland the Diesel pump nozzle is bigger than petrol nozzles. Ie, you can't stick a diesel nozzle in a petrol filler due to the nozzle being too big ... If that's the case, why hasn't that been introduced here?

Sorry to hear about your mistake Mark - happens to all of us at some point ...

Dan

The diesel pumps are bigger than the petrol ones here. Well cant say for all garages but deffo in the shell by me.

That's correct but AFAIK you can fit any nozzle into an Import but not a UK model

they could make the signs a little more clear, i've nearly done it myself

Been there!!! done that to,, so you are not alone in that aspect...But it always seems to happen when you haveing a crap time,,, just to make feel even worst...
