There are a few vids of 300s beating 350s. A nice sight to see as I never thought the 350 was as good a replacement for the Z32 as it could have been.

I'm not sure it ever was supposed to be a "replacement" for the 300 tbh, more an effort to re-discover the DNA line of the orginal 240... Whether or not you thought that was the right thing to do is open to debate.

 

As an ex-350 and now 300 owner again, you can see which I prefer - tbh, I always missed the turbo-thrust, but that's a question of taste.

 

When it comes to it being a great car in its own right, however, no doubt about it - in a market where the default choice is the hairdresser TT - then the 350 stands out as a real sports-car IMO.

 

BTW, although Mike won't like me for saying this, when Clarkson was whooped by his TT on the drag strip (in my 350) - he told my missus afterwards that the 350 was "never" going to win anyway - in fact he lifted off - pretty obvious when you see the 260 nearly overtake it - he wanted to prove a point.

 

Ultimately, however the 300 is faster mid-range - so would have won anyway, but it would have been closer. :D

The 300zx 350z race has been done many times twice by clarkson in fact.

Well i wish i was a moron then, a millionaire, best job in television and has access to play with all those nice pieces of metal lol!!

The 350z is a realy nice car to drive, but I did expect more performance. It was one of the first 350z's I drove though and I'm told that they have improved. However they would have to be something special to overcome my abhorance of its vile styling.

 

It just looks like a WWII Anderson shelter on wheels, or a more angular version of the Audi TT. Which IMO is another styling disaster only equalled by its new replacement for sheer Dog Shit Sandwhich appeal.
