Had an excellent second interview today up in Coventry, did a really good presentation too. I was told an hour later that I'd gotten it. Job is very interesting and I'm joining the company at an exciting time. Money is a considerable jump up from what I'm on now.

Got a 6th month old 407 SW coming my way. Not the biggest fan of them, but get to choose something else when the lease expires on that one. Anyone ever driven one of these? Apart from their basking shark appearance, what are they like? Anyway, best bit is, my Laguna is now surplas to requirements. So, once I've sold that, it's leather time for my Z! :D

Anyway, this came at the right time as I'm off on holiday on Friday to California and had a very stressful time in my current role and going away knowing I've only got to come back to it for a few weeks is just an amazing feeling.

The tax man is going to love you.... say good bye to your "non taxable allowance"....

Before you've earnt anything you'll owe Darling! Get them to get you a pickup truck (if that still counts as a van?) or failing that a van of somekind lol... can get away with not paying for those. Or at most with "limited use" they are £500 a year or so!

Congratulations by the way!

Currently I am a ships agent, but manage to get back into an engineering based role. My new job is as a regional sales manager specialising in filtration systems for heavy industry. Really interesting job as they are expanding at the moment with many new products. Just secured a large MOD contract as well.

The NSX looms slightly larger in your sights , then ?

Sure hope so. Still a few years away though. :)

It'll be not much more tax than my last company car. I had a top spec Astra Estate. It's not fully expensed either, so on basic rate of company car tax.

oh thats okay then! As long as your used to it... last company i worked for looked into getting cars instead of vans at one time... I was all for it until i read those rather horrific taxation rules!

Yeah, company car tax isn't too bad up to a point. I think I was paying under £100 a month last time, might have been closer to £50. I think with the 407, it'll be about £80. But I'll save £50 a month not insuring my Laguna.

Once you start getting into the realms of fully expensed company cars, that's when Mr Tax man really bites your ass!

from ships cat to a high flying sales manager

well done Simon i told you you,d get it :)

Nope. I'll work from home. There's a local office at Emerson's Green (Bristol) where I'll base myself out of for the first 6 months. I'll be responsible for the accounts in the SW region.

Excellent news there bud.. things are lookin good 4 you... have a virtual :duffer: on me

Great news big guy !! :)

Glad its all panning out for you.

One word of advice I was always told when starting in a new place ?

Eyes and Ears open,

Mouth shut !! ;)

But reckon you are already wise to that !!

Good luck,

Alan.......

Congratulations Si. There's nothing quite like jacking your old job in :)

Well done, Si. If you do move to Cov, give me a shout and I'll tell you good places to live.
