Does anyone know the 300zx time round the nurburgring? Plus is there a list somewhere of all the production cars times? I can find a list for supercars but nothing else.

Thanx

I've seen 8:40 written somewhere for the standard 300zx, on its launch , when it beat porsche's top testers in their 928GT by 6 seconds.

Cant find it now though....still looking...

Me too - I think it is in the "enthusiasts companion" book. I'll dig mine out and have a read...... ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

ChrisC was estimate at 8 1/2 by the driver.

Thoes that were there would stand up in a court of law and agree with it as Len was something completely differnt.

And thoes that did not hand over the Keys and take a passenger seat are kicking oureslves.

I timed mine with my stop watch at 9.20 and I cant drive for shit.

Enthusiast's Companion

Moreover, the European-specification 300ZX Turbo lapped the tortuous Nurburgring in 8min 40sec - some 6 seconds faster than Porsche's top test driver Gunther Steckkonig could manage in a 928GT in an exercise run by the magazine AutoBild to find the fastest German production car.

And did I mention that the Z is still a record holder at Bonneville from 1991 - that's an unbroken record for sixteen years?

In the E/BMS class, we shined with a record 419.84 km/h, becoming world champions, and making a global name for ourselves. This record remains unbroken.

That thing has about 260 hp...some of these new hothatches are stupidly fast

Something as simple as Improvements in tyre techonlogy would have a serious affect on lap times over the years....you can bet the standard fit 300zx tyres in 1990 have no where near the grip of todays top tyres.

Yes it was a truly awesome drive to say Len is about 70 and it was his one and only lap in my Z

Just goes to show that it's all about knowing the track and not what car your are in.
