I have for about 20 years now been trying to give it up (on and off). Well I have managed a 3 month stint but it got me and I started again. That was 3 years ago. I am seriously thinking about having another go and what better time to go for it than the 1st of July?

 

"Is there anyone else" who would like to join me and give it up?

all i seem to do is pay fookin taxes the bloody government have driven me too smoking!!

Funny thing Vinz. On the radio a few weeks ago they was saying that the government were thinking about introducing a law to stop binge drinking as this country is the worlds worst binge drinking nation. So you aint far wrong mate. AND YES! Religion is without doubt the biggest cause of death world wide.

Binge drinking must be incorridged by "THE STATE" if not, then why else did they lengthen the drinking hours. :confused:

I believe that after a slight lull in trade in scotland and ireland its now gone from strength to strength and it will do over here as well, yes it may drive out the smokers who wont obey the law but in their place will be the people who have stayed away because of the smokers :)

 

this is pubs i'm talking about.

 

lets face it smoking IS anti social and shouldnt be subjected to people who dont smoke so everyone should embrace it rather than slag it off, no ones saying you cant do your smelly/bad for your health/expensive habit LOL

 

and if i catch someone breaking the law it wont be me with 2 black eyes but that person may have be able to start smoking out of their ass once i shove the fags and lighter well and truely up there :D

too make up for the loss of revenue from the smoking ban one wouldnt wonder!!

Who decided smoking was anti social? The non smokers! it wasnt that long ago that smoking was the social thing to do. So all you non smokers are the anti social ones!

its only the smokers who have any idea how difficult it is to give up, i have smked for about 8 years on and off, have given up for about 6 months is my longest stint without a tab. Will probably help to ban smoking in pubs etc... as this is the time when i really fancy a tab. I found nicorette gum the best thing for me, and that really took the edge of the dreaded cravings, but different people have different ways in which their body responds. Good luck to anyone who gives it a go, the benefits definitely outway cons.

To be honest buddy its attitudes like yours about smoking thats got it banned in the first place, its inconsiderate people who ARE anti social and smoke in restaurants etc and have this "i will do what i want" attitude that started this.

i think it could kick start quite alot of people to quit which can oly be a good thing, and i people want to carry on then not a problem but even smokers must agree it can only be a good thing to have clean pubs etc where kids etc go :)

well that boils my pi55 too, sorry but kids imho should not be allowed in pubs, nowt bloody worse when your enjoying an adult conversation and a pint than screaming bloody kids everywhere, im in a pub why should i watch my language?

I am happy for people to keep paying to kill themselves as it keeps my taxes down, so could never hope for a complete ban! :)
