Pay for membership of 300zx.co.uk?

Guys, just out of interest and I have been given permsission from Craig to post this. Who would be prepared to pay for membership?

Simple as that, not gonna mention money too much but say you were asked to stump up a fiver/tenner for the year! How would you go with that?

Would mean that the guys like Nick and Craig could make things better and maybe deter the bad elements from joining and posting against the true members!

Personally I think it would be good, I know I post a load of shite but at the end of the day I own a 300ZX and that gives me the right to post or be a member!

LOL biggrin.gif Unless of course I get banned! ROFL biggrin.gif

So what do you think? Just testing the water really!

I must admit I agree with Jaylox, there are commercial ventures making dough out of this site, why not get a commision from them. Courtesey must make bags of dough and they are recommended by people on this site, if they get an order through a link on this site, Craig and Nico should get a cut and the same for other business links!

Ive only just joined, but I have enjoyed visiting your forum for quite a while and certainly would not mind paying a fee.I think you lads who run it deserve abit of help.Had my Ztt now for 4yrs,and been helped many times with tec tips.CHEERS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Making a fortune off this site ! you must be joking fella. prime example is the Mongoose's, not 1 single solitry sale from that, if i'm selling something for a £100 less that it should be, guess what my profit is, not a lot !! 2 products i've plugged this year on this site and from those my profit wouldn't pay me petrol for a week !!!

so believe me, a one off payment a year as opposed to commission, would benefit this club far better and that's providing the members support the traders who support the club.................

this is exactly why i prefer the small commission route, rather than flat fee for any traders that i set up a shop for.

it may look like some of the traders are making a lot of money (fromt he site), but in reality, some of the deals they do are to save you lot money, rather than make them a fortune (hard as that may be for some people to take in)

£12 is not a lot to be a member for a year if it betters the forum but may be £20 or £25 would be better and you get a club card and window sticker and may be get 10% off some part companys and a members photo gallery of there cars. Just a idea

but I be happy to pay

see yur jay

craig ,give us some ideas of what it would take to make some improvements on the site?

jaylox

Great idea! How about Pay-As-You-Go? i.e. 2p per post biggrin.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif wink.gif

Well someone had to post it!!!!!

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.

Yup no problem with paying,as it is lots of clubs charge to enable various benefits for members.

I know I posted two items, which made me unpopular with several members.

This site has saved me loads and future problems.

I would pay a fee, but perhaps closing/deleting threads before the slagging starts and an e-mail sent warning the poster that thread was 'not on'! The max being three strikes and out?

I am a genuine ZX owner and feel that a fee to post is a good idea, but allow a free viewing of the posts.

Payment is a good idea. But why not make it a proper registered club at the same time with annual subs, part of which funds the site? We could then get cheaper insurance, parts etc, and have our own secret handshake!

If the site is chargeable it may then be affected by legal stuff. Craig/Nico have U checked the implications of this?

The nice bit about Coogs' idea is that this would mean that the club could be run by someone other than Craig or Nico. They can continue to maintain the forum but with some funding from the club - which is being looked after by someone else.

Any budding club runners out there ? I for one would be happy for them to have free subscription !

Dave

Listen, it's only a thought but if people really want to move to a "proper" club, then why not get together with the Z Club in some way? I know there are already people members of both this forum and the Z Club.

The Z Club has more members but a quieter forum. Our forum is *ahem* interesting and vibrant but doesn't have the club mag, etc etc. Posts earier in this thread have commented on the pros and cons of membership vs open.

The Z Club would be very interested in having input from us in their Z32 forum but I doubt we could be as *cough* freewheeling as many are here. Arse. Oops sorry.

IMHO, it would be a shame to end up with two separate paid-for clubs both appealing at least in part to Z32 owners like us. MG car clubs can get away with this but there are tens of thousands in each club. We'd be lucky to hit 2 to 4 thousand Zeds in total across all models.

As an ex-hippy, it just seems that there is strength in numbers - group buys, insurance deals, dealing with Nissan, shouting at crap suppliers and so on. So working together with others seems to me to be a bit better than trying to reinvent wheels - even if they are 18" split rims. wink.gif

Been a while since ive posted on here guys...

I was a member of the Z club a couple of years ago - they seemed very 'pre Z32' centric. This is not a criticism, just an observation. I didnt renew my subs with them cause I didnt feel they had anything to offer me as a Z32 owner.

The one thing to bear in mind is that if we are paying members of a club (the fact we pay subs makes people recognise it as a club and not just a bunch of car owners) means we should be able to pursue some club discount type insurance. Nothing else need change!

Just my $0.02

Even as a "casual" member, I wouldn't be adverse to paying a subscription.

The reason I don't post all that often now is because the forum became very "laddy" and it just wasn't for me. I don't mind discussing things other than the Zed, otherwise life would get exceptionally boring but it got to the stage and mentality of drunk lads down the pub a lot of the time which is why I bowed out.

I still read what goes on, though and think that Craig and Nick do a stirling job on here in the face of a fair few difficulties so to re-iterate, I wouldn't mind paying to be a member of this forum.

Cheers

Anita.

Being a new "Junior" member, and not being too sure when i blossom into a "Large " member.... I would like to add my 2 pence worth. Before i bought my Z i was looking around the web to see what info was available and what the thoughts were of people that already owned them. I was linked to this site and after lots of reading posts, comments etc decided to hand over me wonga and buy a Z32, mainly the information available to me on the Technical forum. I'm not a major contributor to the General Forum as i don't have anything earth shattering to say, however i do like to read it, and have nearly smiled on many occassions and the genuinely amusing banter! Like other s have said before me, i wouldn't mind handing over some cash to help towards the site, but in reality, i don't really have the time to enjoy the site as much as could. I would like to see a definitive "Club" thing going though, complete with mugs, stickers and magazine, and think that the magazine side of it is where the new proposed site should be? I was in the Triumph Sport Six Club before the internet was invented and although i found members a little elitest, it was a good club ran by genuine enthusiasts for fellow enthusiasts, which brought all the benefits of insurance, purchases and offers etc. At the end of the day, its all down to what the members of this site want, but if there's going to be different factions, i would like to be in both and contribute accordingly. This site is great and invaluable anyway, and if there is a war of words breaking out in the general forum then once of got the jist of the battle then i just view another topic!

I'll get me coat as well...

I like many would gladly pay for the club services of 300ZX.co.uk.

Most clubs have a rate of £10-£25 depending(some also have "gold" membership). I would'nt mind paying £25 per year as that is a very small amount considering the savings I have made with advice and help from members of this club over the past 2+ years here.

Like Mark said the UK Z Club did seem more "pre Z32" when I tried to sign up(this was 2-3 years ago) so this 300ZX was(and still is in my eyes) the place to be.

As well as the benefits other have mentioned, I think with paying members we could eventually see things like a club magazine(which I would gladly contribute to), discounts with more suppliers, more chance of club insurance and of course more support to those who maintain this site and take the time to arrange club space at shows etc, monitor this site for spammers and moderate the "kiddys" or c*nts as Nico said(cos no one got him an alternator) biggrin.gif

YOU WANT TO CHARGE ME £25 A YEAR!!! FFS THAT IS £2 A MONTH FOR WHAT??

Well for £2 a month you get access to the world best Z32 technical advice, occassional meetings of like minded Z32 enthusiasts (sometimes a little too enthusiastic), some light humour and mostly an excellent place to find out what other people are doing to upgrade or are suffering with their Z32's. I think that for £2 a month that is quite a lot to get, certainly more than you egt with other car clubs and if that also means we get a dedicated insurance broker like the Insurance Factory and other parts suppliers giving us club discounts then so much the better.

I keep my ZClub membership going for the sake of amusement at their dedication to old Z's and occassionally submit articles to them too. I would be happy to pay for membership of the "300zx/Z32 Club".

Hi,

I have no objection whatsoever with paying out money for joining the club. This forum has saved me Faausaands over the time I have owned my Z. I do think the Z club are changing their attitude though. When I joined six months ago,the club secratery rung me up and welcomed me to the club and asked if I wanted to put my ropey old Z in the club magazine, I think they realise the future of the club is in the Z32's.

The cars prior to the Z32 are sports cars, the Z32 is a supercar!

Mark

Well that is nearly 80 people agreeing pretty much to a contribution towards upkeep etc.

General consensus seems around the £25 per/an mark - now that is 25*80=£2000 - in conclusion, would that pay for a new server and UBB update Craig?

Sorted !
