Can anyone who has moved there seatbelts from the doors to the B-Pillars (ie From Jap series 1 to UK or Jap series 2 onwards style) tell me what they did about the missing nut/thread for the top hole ?

All the rest of the fitment holes and threads are in place but the top bolt hole in the B-pillar is missing the thread, its just a hole in the thin metal frame.

Just weld a new nut in ;)

I wouldn,t like to trust my life to a welded nut , all seat belt anchorage poiints are well beefed up internally in the B pillars , and the nut is on the far side of the strengthened area so the nut can,t pull through it all if there was an impact .

Also being mounted in the doors is a good anti hijack device as well :D

good point to consider!

Until you have a crsah and the emergency services can't get the door open.

thats a very good point, so does that mean just dont crash

Why? - because Im fitting a series 3 suede Interior to replace the current Blue tweed interior, and you cant have belts on the doors with them.

yeh, not to sure about just welding a nut no....the metal is not thick enough....maybe if I welded in a plate too......I will have to compare with a UK or Late jap Zed to see what should be there...

I know Chris@getgreddy has done it...but well...ermm..yeh....

When i put new door in had to do it the other way around i.e. put seat belt mounts back in door.

I went to my local race and rally shop with the bolt and they matched it up with a threaded plate that sits behind panel and is held in place by the bolt. Its the way they do seat belt anchorage points apparently.

HTH

We just cut the seatbelt!

Legrath, have you considered maybe getting some race harmesses instead?

Well you know what i mean David :D Obviously not just weld a nut in but you will have to weld a thick plate in to reinforce the Panel and weld a nut to that.

I have had alook at the panels before and they are very thin. :D

Hi Mark , eventually I will, when I have the rollcage in (not really keen on having harnesses bolted to floor) but need the belts fitted until that happens.

Have heard of people attaching harnesses to rear strut bar....any thoughts?

Use double sided sticky pads ;) Blue Peter taught me a lot
