Yep  , it had the same chassis structual upgrades that the Convertible has.

boat like then :p ;)

LOL

interesting, i want to install most of the 99 model improvements into my 89 model sometime in the future, does anyone know exactly what the 99's came with compared to the 89 models. like;

- Black Swade interior with 300zx written on the seat covers.

- illuminated door switches,

- Airbag steering wheel

- Airbag Dash board

- Updated Climate control unit

- 2000spec Xenon Headlights

- 2000spec taillights

- 2000spec Rear Center Panel with Red 300zx logo

- 2000Spec Front Bar

- Red Z Badge on Front nose panel

- Seat Belts not on doors but on the B pillars(i think they are called)

- Updated Engine Electric Connectors, to prevent Corrosion(eg. Injector plugs etc.)

is what ive researched and gathered from looking at photos on the net. Does anyone know anything else the 99's came with that i could add to my 89 j-spec???

Take a look at this link >> http://www.nissan.co.jp/FAIRLADY/9810MC/HTMLS/lineup.html

It's the official Nissan line up for the 99+ series. Ok it's all in Japanese, but "A picture paints a thousand words"!! ;) (A virtual pint for anyone who can complete the lyric!! )

HTH

Dave (99 JSpec guru!! )

furry muff, but if your gonna do a replica you may as well replicate the top dog ;)

Oh, yeah, I fully agree, but there is the problem.......

You can't get hold of replica side skirts, as no-one makes them anywhere in the world. And genuine ones, if you could even find them, were selling for in excess of £1500!!!!!! A bit pricy for a set of skirts.

And that's why i don't have them on mine :D

Interesting link that Dave, but what I find even more interesting is the difference in dimensions between the 2+0 and 2+2.

The shorty is lower, thinner and shorter!

you got to love those shortys!

oh yeah, i never realised that too... so its not just a shorty... its a short, low, thinny?

though if you look at the figures the car body is the same height so it must just have lower suspension :)

looks like 1cm lower suspension!

Another reason why the SWB is better than the 300zx saloon!

If anyone is interested, I now have the full 99 JSpec brochure scanned. I have two versions, one is in JPEG format and have been edited from the full size original brochure. The brochure is bigger than A4, so I've had to scan each page twice and edit them together. The second version is the same brochure, but in .pdf format. both versions are 20 pages in total, including the cover.

Now for the problem, the .pdf version is 9.88 MB and the individual JPEG full version is 29.9 MB, so I'm not going to be e-mailing this all over the place, simply because of the time required in sending it. If someone wants to host it somewhere I have no problem, and I could then send it via a CD.

This is only the brochure, it does not include the Tech Spec document, as that's ALL in Japanese, and is mainly writing so i didn't feel it was worth it.

Let me know if anyone is interested. :D

can we bring 99 model cars over?

can we bring 99 model cars over?

In short, NO, well not yet anyway, in late '08 you could if you find a late '98 version (as that's when they started to build them) otherwise you'll have to wait until '09. Unless you want to pay for the Model Report, which'll be a few grand!!

but surely it'd be worth it? i know i'd be prepared to pay top dollar for one!

TBH, yes it would, but I believe it's something like £3000 for the report, and 99 specs already fetch top money over in Japan anyway, so it could be a VERY expensive 8 year old (and lets be honest) and outdated sports car. And once '09 arrives the value would plumet!

Thanx for all the info help guys, im not to worried about the exterior kit parts as i intend to get an aftermarket kit like the Velisde C2 or something like that, I believe the 99spec had the best the 300zx zed could have with parts and options so i want to add them in as best i can. Thanx to Daves_Zed for the website link, i had it translated but it was sorta hard to understand all the tech part but thank you none the less.

too true, i'll wait!!

- Black Swade interior with 300zx written on the seat covers. Extreamly Rare!!

- illuminated door switches, Rare

- Airbag steering wheel If you got ALL the parts to go with it, ie, firing mechanisim and Cruis Controls on a stalk

- Airbag Dash board Only available on US spec cars, defo NOT on JSpec 99's

- Updated Climate control unit From series two onwards, you need the control pod and the Amp Modual, no wiring mods required!

- 2000spec Xenon Headlights Very EXPENSIVE

- 2000spec taillights No problem

- 2000spec Rear Center Panel with Red 300zx logo No problem

- 2000Spec Front Bar No problem

- Red Z Badge on Front nose panel No problem

- Seat Belts not on doors but on the B pillars(i think they are called) You require a mod to the B pillar as there is no captive nut already welded in, it'll take a bit of doing, but is not impossible

- Updated Engine Electric Connectors, to prevent Corrosion(eg. Injector plugs etc.) A new engine loom is not easy to find, and generally go for around £500UK

Hope that helps you out a bit bud.

Dave

Anyone noticed that the fuel filler cap is in front of the nearside rear wheel on an SWB and behind it on a LWB? Never seen that before.....wierd design change?!

The Climate control unit i was talking about is this one

It doesnt have awp readings and the writing on the module is slightly different to the electric modules from the 89 model i have

This was taken from a 95 jap-spec

Its becuase of the fuel tank location difference.

Thats the easiest way to tell a SWB from a LWB in exterior pics.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can anyone tell me what type of spec the 1997 Jap TT Manual would be. Would it have Recaros or leather or neither.

Any info on the 97 spec would be appreciated!

Thanks
