Hi everyone,

basically want to buy a zx unmodified but then turn it into a supercar...well more so...

i'm looking at the 3.5-4.5 sec 0-60 mark and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of kit i should get. ive seen a few turbo's advertised but nothing in the form of a complete kit ie: turbos, injectors, manifold, intercooler etc...

can anyone help?

you will have to have an engine rebulid if you bhp gets towards the 400 mark, which it more than likely will, there no point trying to run high bhp with srock pistons, rods etc, as they end up in pieces, you could try going up to around 380 bhp then totally srtipping the car of all excess weight, then try it

we also suffer from grip problems, get one with splippers if you are going to try, but i suspect big money and tears

i was looking at gto's a while back but theres lack of styling mods, its not as nice as 300zx and the gear box is £6000 to replace!!!

Every time i jump in my dads Evo FQ400 it just makes me want something a bit pokier than my teg type r.... a lot pokier.

Judging by the 300zx's showing in the j-tuner magazine shoot-out, id suggest a GTO lol

lol well to be fair it was first come first served with the Z's, but the biggest powered GTOs in the UK. we had two NA's there too ;)

get yourself a nissan pulsar GTI, that'll do 0-60 a lot quicker than a zed...

I bought a GTO just before my first Z. More sure footed then the Z but when the suspension is played with on the Z it’s a better drive. The Z seems a bit faster to me.

there's something i don't like about the pulsars... it just reminds me of a pumped up half breed between a renault 5 turbo and a fiesta lol. ive got about 6 types of car i would like to get but in the mean time i'm just fixin up me 1974 hillman imp lol.

ive allso had one and hated the thing, felt heavy and sluggish :( and you could,nt get the back end out as easy as the zx :)

My dads got an evo... the best one.. so can't really go and buy an underdog. got about 10k budget but all the engine work my mate is doing ( he's a performance car mechanic/specialist) and does it for free so its only the car and the parts i need to get

Buy mine, its the lighter one of the zeds to start with and already has some mods :)

Fairly easy to get the Z32 to do a 0-60 of under 5 secs....but getting any rear wheel drive car to do a sub 4 sec 0-60 is no easy task.

The zed is more about mid-range and top end grunt. A scooby or Evo will get the initial bite from standstill away from a zed, but the zed will quickly reel it in and pass it by.

When i first got mine I had a go at 0-60 times with one of those G-tech things, I spent hours trying not to spin up its damn hard not to.

But on a rolling start theres not many to compare, and mine is almost standard.

It has a complete list of mods... You're looking at £0000's It'd be cheaper for you to buy an italian supercar to start with.

It would be possible to push over 500 bhp if you spent 10k on mods and that would be a very fast zed. Itus not a bad car to start with as it already has plenty of power and torque. you can easily run 370-400 bhp on stock internals just with fueling and boost refinements. Y would anyone on this earth suggest a GTO is beyond me as you will be constantly fixing stupid problems and then every other week big problems, and they are not easy to work on !

I think we all remember the GTO's lol see you in 5

I only had the GTO for two day's, I really wanted the Z but the GTO was the new shape and it was a good deal. Still took it back and got a Z instead, I've got a soft spot for Zs.

Four years of Zs and I still like them.
