Could anyone please give any advise, I get a really strong smell when flooring the throttle ?? I also get smoke on start up (blue) i know this is probably turbo seals but i wonder if the two problems are connected ?

Grateful for anyone's help.

when booting is the smell you notice......petrol? oil? coolant? sh!t? :D

if its the latter you need a slower car

On start up....is that initial startup or after it's been idling for a few mins? Could just be your stem seals.

if it's sort of similar to the smell of "welding", then it's coming from your catalysts

These get extremely hot when flooring it.

it is after it has been idling for a few mins then goes away, also the smell is kind of oily def not petrol or coolant

is that because the fuel pump at full throttle has got a lot of pressure ?

And where are they located ?

thanks

blue smoke is oil, black for over fueling, white for water

A cloud of blue smoke after 5min of running is common, mine does it after its been stood for a while.

Pcv valves can leak a tiny bit into the exhausts, when the exhausts get up to temp the oil burns off so you get one cloud after about 5min then it goes away. If its all the time then it may well be turbo seals.

i have done the pcv vavles thanks but the question was really why i get that nasty smell and its worse if i boot i and the windows are open

Is the dipstick fully inserted?

Oh and white smoke can be oil too - if the oil gets into the exhaust rather than through the combustion chambers it gives white smoke as it is only heated, not burnt ;)
