I am more on about the usage of the auto...for instance is it better to put your fet down from D.. or go through 1..2...then D

No difference, doing it manually will probably only slow it down. Flick it into the power setting, O/D off, away you go.

A heavy foot and quick reactions when it comes to tight corners, like mini-roundabouts !

Left foot braking is the key also use the overdrive on/ off switch at corners for engine braking, also around town or short duel carriage way bursts leave the overdrive off, when between traffic light drags leave in second, overdrive off and select sport mode ( import only) who needs a manual when an auto has so much more to offer.

If we're talking drag racing i've been practising my racing starts in my auto :D Not too tricky and works a treat :D

i began to like the auto gear box!!!!! i think i might be really happy if i get larger break dics to improve breaking - anybody upgraded theirs?

the auto is a total blast to drive when the power switch is on...and as above use overdrive switch through corners....as to brakes i've not uprated mine but i did have the calipers overhauled with a kit...made a heck of a difference

ok, hold on the brakes with the revs at 2000/2200 rpm odrive off and in power mode, launch( brake off and floor it at the same time), with the overdrive off it will lock the convertor at around 100mph, click overdrive on at this point and most of the time everything is in the distance in your rearview mirror, using this way of launching i get a 4.8 0-60 time and a 11.9 100mph.

WOW that shounds great, i cant wait to get out and try it, i just didnt understand one bit what do you mean by locking the convertor at 100? many thanks

my converter locks up at 80km,my last auto did aswell

locking the convertor is what happens when there is no more gears for it to go up, thats why i click overdrive on around that time and you can hear the gearchange again.

oh i see what you mean know!!! few days ago i went up to 140mph 4th gear (in my rear garden) with OD OFF, only changed the gear when i clicked it again - does that mean previous ovner had it modded or something? thank you retro620

I would say likelier is that your speedo is out as the top speed with odrive off should be around the 125mph region

you can get different converters for drag take offs but i dont know if they alter the top speed

ok brake up-grade's....i went for R33 brembo's off a skyline GTR....they bolt straight on ... :D ..they're the best up-grade you can do for the money..(£881..for all4 corners that's disc's,pad's and calipers)...

...

isnt it just a matter of drilling out the mounting holes for a r34 upgrade?

yeah the R34's are 14mm and the R33's are 12mm.....both are the same cailpers..one is gold and the other is black,,and same piston size too....

wozzer they look the business mate well done , but very pricey :( is your car Auto?

Over Drive is one more gear! Lockup is just the Torque Converter locking up over 40/50mph to help transfer the most of the power to reduce torque converter slip.

Alot of manual gearboxes in the 1960's and 70's has overdrive

The 300zx is fitted with either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic gearbox with Torque Converter Lockup :)
