can anyone recommend a nice-fitting tube for the boot? The one i have is too big and makes it awkward even putting the roof in. My amp is only a blaupunkt 100wx2, but powerful enough for me.

I'm not too bothered about massive volume, just something deep and rich at medium levels.

cheers.

Just want something with good bass responce which is'nt too big, cheers scartlead. Chris and Rich , looked at both of those. I reckon the infinity is pretty expensive but the other one looks good value ,even though it looks quite big. going back for another look.

Mick,

Daz (Madhammster) just bought the 12" version of this, It's got an amp built in, and TBH i was shocked by the sound for not much cash..........

been off question m8, but give this a look if you are after something that happens to sound better instead of looking at specs etc...does size really matter or would the position really be better... http://www.installer.com/tech/aiming.html

cheers Mark,

good link! Makes a lot of sense. tubes do sound better when turned backwards or when the boot is open. i've got mine turned sideways because it keeps catching the parcel shelf boot cover thingy when I put it longways.

no worries chewie, the amount of people who put some sort of install in the car, have it permantly installed and then listen to it, is a hell of a lot..when it comes to hifi , position is far more important than size!!!!

That's the problem with the 300zx boot isn't it?! you don't have much space to play around with. I once had a small pioneer tube, small enough to put it right at the back of the boot without connecting with the hatch, and it was the dogs danglies. But it got wet one day and the wood started to splitafter a while.

think i'll do some further investigation on the ones Chunk and Chris recommended.

Mick.

i wouldnt got for the fly trap i've cooked two in 5 weeks.

back to my JBL pro now

Chewie - which bass tube did you get in the end? Is it active?

I'm thinking of going along these lines, something removable, and not too earth shattering.

Cheers.

(bass purists need not say that a nice bespoke enclosure is the way to go!)

yep I got it, Its bloody loud but takes up almost the whole damn boot, hence I am getting rid of it and putting a proper install where the rear seats should be.

Hi matZ,

still got the blaupunkt tube i've had for ages, bit crappy, but doing the job for now. other things took priority i'm afraid. If you get anything good in the meantime let me know. I'm still a fan of the basstube, lazy way out I guess, but doesn't blow the kids ears off :)

Ok - thanks mate.

I haven't really looked yet (waiting for bonus time!) but wondered like you if there was one that fitted nicely with the targas in. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

Matt.

bass tube

Theses are good and well know.
