double din head units... can you fit one in the Z? looking on e-bay and they are quite cheap, im guessing you would have to cut :eek: the plastic bar in-between the two? anyone done this? cheers! :)

yes, been doing this today to mount a 7" (about double din-size) Touscreen into it, but needs a lot more work, not happy with it :(

 

After cutting out the middle bar, and applying fibreglass to smooth edges and fill in gaps

 

 

Lots of sanding, lots of filler, and a quick spray :

 

 

THat was just a quick spray to see how much work I have to do on it....loads :( Fed up doing it now :(

That's come up quite well Dave, I'll have a look at it tomorrow. Thought about sanding it right down and spraying it metallic silver? I could do that for you. :)

I wonder if you could fit the in-dash monitor in one of the slots in the dash, and the radio in the other. I think this is a quite good idea if you like me not want to destroy the original dashboard. Does anyone have one?

I have the DVD player at the top as the screen gets in the way of my guages. But it will also go the other way around

when you fitted both units was there space to fit a double din one? sorry to go on but im not at the car at the moment so i cant take the dash appart to have a look! i know the cage is quite big as i fitted my head unit.. but that was about 2 years ago so i cant really remember! :o
