Can Any 1 help, My turbo seems to have failed with no warning ,I just notced a lack of accelaration and that the turbo readinge will not go above -1 on the gauge .

Can any one advise

Also what damage will I cause by driving her if the turbo has failed?

and how much is the repair going to cost this time?

will i have re-mortage the house again to keep her on the road?

IIRC busted turbo's means your car runs just like an N/A

no more damage to the tubs (i would have thought) would occur running around...HTH

Twinpier ,what Is The Iirc ,

IIRC = "If I ReCall"

Have you had any excessive smoke or noises from the car before or after the turbo failure ?

I'd wait for somebody that knows more about Turbo failures to offer a diagnosis, or take the car to one of our specialist traders to check, as you may be lucky and find that its not turbo failure.

depends what has happened, worse case scenario, the compressor wheel could break up, get sucked in the engine & destroy it (sorry!)

Cheers Legrath, will do, M8

mostly true, except the turbo diff wont allow for accelleration as much as N/A diff.

Hope you get the problem sorted mate

Just a bit of a random one ,but thought I'd mention it. Have you checked things such as wastegate connections and the like? I doubt both turbos would go at the same time and surely one turbo would still produce at least some noticable pressure in the manifold. People seem to jump to the 'my turbos have gone' conclusion but its often something less drastic.

Yours wild guessing ,Dave

Cheers Monaghan, however have got no turbo kick at all when i floor it, Ta Steve

have you done a sense-check under the bonnet? there's arent two big pipes hanging loose? sorry im not taking the pee its just easier to check with the simple things first (as ive learned several times).

Everything seems to be where its should be ,cheers Dave

Still think there must be something else. Usually if the turbos are physically knackered then there would be physical symptoms eg smoke if the seals have gone, or maybe noise/vibration if blades are broke. This just sounds like they are not spooling up for some reason. Doesnt sound like there is a vacuum leak though as the engine is actually creating a vacuum ie -1 in the manifold. What about throttle position sensor on passenger side, front of plenum. Does it make full revs?

Wouldn't a TT ZX with completely knackered tubbies actually be less powerful than an N/A owing to the lower compression of the TT engine?

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
