as i was fettling in with the zed, as you do, i happened to be lying down at the front end of the zed. As i looked into the front vent of the bumber i noticed oil on the underside of my apexi BOVs and a little puddle on the undertray!!!!!

WTF!!!!!

i tell you what if this is a sign of of one of my turbo's on the way out, im taking the zed to an abandoned car park and burning the bloody thing!!!

hopefully some one will tell me i'm over reacting and its only an easily replaceable seal or something

any ideas

cheers,

Nick

oil in the intake piping is usually caused by small amounts of oil that came out through the upper PCV lines (the pipes that run behind the throttle bodies).

It could very well be that the oil was already in the pipe(s) for years and now finally has an opportunity to leak out through the BOV, since the apexi's sit at a low point of the intake piping.

Try to clean it as much as possible and see if it returns.

(There's a good chance that the intercooler might also have some oil in it.)

mate when youve had such a frustrating time with your zed over the last 5 months that ive had ie blown head gaskets twice, completely warped heads, blown big ends, no compression, knackered injectors, 2 sets of tyres and various knackered oil seals, you begin to wonder, why do i still have the cursed thing!

This is Quite common as they get a bit older every Zed ive worked on or Owned has had oil in either the intake pipe or Recirc...

Does have one advantage.....??

Stop's the Steel pipes from corroding due to the thin lining of oil round the inside of the tube....! ;)

steve: the rads been top mate, even better now its not got air con in the way!!!

Zmaster: cheers mate, and very true about the lack of corrosion!

well thank god no ones said my turbos got a knackered seal or anything because that would just be the end of things. now all ive got to do is get some hard pipes to get rid of my split boost pipes, change the plenum gasket and find out why im getting a VERY loud blow from my exhaust manifold!!!

I can empathise completely mate. Been there, still riding the grief now.

In 2 1/2 years of ownership, I have driven about 2000 miles in her. She has cost me over £20K in repairs and mods. She has been on the road about 5 months in total out of 30, the rest of the time she has been in garages.

I am just coming out of the latest stint of her being off the road for 8 months :nono: and shes just about ready!! :nana2:

It is a real test of your devotion to the zed......if you like the car that much, you'll stick with it..... :smash:

Best of luck....

i totally agree mark, BUT and its a big but, when the car is your daily driver and you cover around 300 miles a week, and you hate trains as much as i do, it multiplys your stress levels ten fold

but i still love her..... just

Now that took alot of getting used to having only driven sports cars...!!!
