Been having such good fun in me new zed for the past 4 months, I have only just got round to using that cruise control thingy. Its quite cool trying to get the knack of driving it without the accelerator - instead just using the controls on the steering wheel. Not too great for the M4 on the way home rush hour. Anyone else love their cruise? Daft question I know, but I'm bored at work.

p.s. can you up the speed? I cant get the cruise to go past 70mph. Probably the jap setup I guess.

Is yours not working, purposely removed or was it like that without the option when new?

yea, it was interesting listening to the engine constanly changing over hills bridges etc. Even kicked down a gear at one point.

my car didnt have it fitted. I think there are a few zeds like that. Must have been an option.

its cool (and dangerous i guess) changing your speed with the steering wheel, you can sit with your legs crossed if u want :D my ford probe v6 would happily let you set cruise at above 70, I tried it at 140 and it worked (although it struggles on hills).

all uk Z's have cruise control (according to the advert), jap ones its an option me thinks :)

Nuked it when Macca and Chris fitted my Momo with snap-off at TRAX a few years ago...yes I did ATTEND an event! LMFAO :)

I like what Macca did with his though after fitting his wheel, he relocated the switches on his centre console...pukka job aswell...looks like it came out the factory like that.

It would be really handy when your trying to eat a McDonalds on the motorway. You know when your trying to hold the drink between your legs with a burger in one hand and the fries resting on the center console.

just about to get shot of mine , one thing less in the engine bay

It doesn't steer for you aswell! LOL :)

You can also earn yourself a Stella Award with it! :)

Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the R.V. left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the owner's manual that he couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons buying their recreation vehicles.

he he- so I take it you cant go for a shag in the back while Kit takes over

Can't use it for more than 50 yards at a time round here before you have to slam on the brakes for some dumb myopic tosser who pulls out on you  The only time I've ever used cruise to any effect was when I drove to Amsterdam in my old Granny Scorpio 2.9i Set the thing to 110mph and left it for about an hour without touching it. I just luuuuuurve driving on the continent! :)

Yea got to agree Timsk it does look pukka in there;) I don't use it much though

Use mine all the time, mainly in an effort to keep the speed down, and still have a bit of fun (i.e. how far can you get without touching the controls etc, etc) ...

If I leave it late enough in the morning to leave (pretty attractive prospect this close to redundancy), I can use it all the way along the M20 from north of Maidstone to Swanley most days.

My last Z didn't have one either, pretty sure it was only an option on early J-Spec manuals ... missed it tbh.

CheerZ,

JB.

I use mine often on the mway as I find that my speed slowly creeps up & up if I don't.

Also, set to about 80 I find I use a bit less fuel than I would do without it unless I really concentrate on keeping speed constant & acceleration light.

MAC - any pics of your re-location? I want a new wheel & have been wondering where else I could mount the controls.

I will have a look for some pics Alex (car not here) It is near the ashtray;)

It all depends whether the missus is in the car when i'm on the motorway.

Yes if she is  (70mph, or no sex for a month)

No if she isn't

My misses is ok on mways upto about 80, but its the country roads that get her- I'll go round a nice sweeping bend at about 50 which is slow driving for me and she'll be have a total paddy thinking we're about to loose it! :slap:

One day I'll just flip and drive like a nutter and say- thats nearly loosing it!!

   never done that on m.way - only through town! i tend to put the drink in the centre console and the fries on the autobox. reason i dont put drink between legs was when i had to do a sudden manouvre once, shut my legs and my coke hit my face!!! looked like a right nob!
