Morning All

Getting the windscreen replaced soon, and a couple of rust spots in the vicinity sorted.

Is everything needed all standard stuff for Autoglass, or do they need to be aware of anything other than the blue tint as its a UK car

Thanks mine is also an insurance job, Autoglass have the option for blue or green glass so thats good news and say they reuse the trim (so now I'm expecting to be off the road for a month whilst they source the trims!!)

By way of update and fair warning to anyone else with a cracked windscreen . . .

After waiting (and chasing them) for three weeks Autoglass said

"There is no stock in the UK so it's a special order from Japan and will take 8-12 weeks, do I still want to go ahead?"

(Do I still want to go ahead? Of course)

This is for a UK screen, it may be different for imports

I approached Pilkington about this on their trade stand at a car show. They checked availability and have the files ready to go should one be required. He also gave me a part number but I’ve no idea where that is now! This was specifically for UK spec glass. Might be worth giving them a call.

Thanks Joely

Just called autoglass to mention this and they looked into the case further

As its on insurance they have ordered all the trims and clips etc as well, which explains the time, and Japan

The trims were one of my concerns as I did not think they would be re-usable, so hopefully worth the wait

Recieved a call from Autoglass a couple of weeks ago to say the windscreen and trims had finally arrived so booked a slot at the local bodyshop to sort out a couple of rust spots in the area, nice and easy with the screen and rubbers out!

This morning the chap starts to remove the screen and said, I'll just give them a call to confirm the screen is in

Lo and behold  no screen!  "System says it should have been here on 1st but can't find it"

Now I'm thinking less than 4 months to MoT . .

Needless to say been on the phone to Autoglass and they have "raised a complaint with customer services whom will call me tomorrow.

Next on the list is Adrian Flux   . . . .

Several calls later . . .

The screen has been found but they are waiting for the  . . .

drum roll . . .

 . .  Trims!

Finally got the call to say everything has arrived, screen is out, although I'll only believe the trims are here when I see them

Looks like the screen was replaced a long time ago as there was extra sealant.

On the corrosion front thankfully just two pinholes so an easy fix, no fabrication required, other than that just surface rust to treat

A 'whilst you're down there' moment, may as well get the tailgate done . .

If there is anyone with a spare replacement rubber trim for the glass, just in case, please let me know

The saga continues . . .

Autoglass turned up todat to fit the screen, no tint and too small, in their words "must be from a Mk2"  MR2 more like, or that they picked the wrong one from the warehouse!

Tomorrow allegedly, on a positice note I have brand new trims, just as well as they bent the old ones!

Looking on the bright side as there is no cracks in the windscreen that must be a pass for the MoT next month?
