For those of you who don't carry your spare wheel anymore, what have you done with your wheel well? Mine is empty and looking for ideas.

Isnt it a bit too shallow for much anyway? Plus it needs to be there for the boot floor so have its shape.

If it was deeper, one of those spare wheel sub installs would be good - it's definitely not though.

LOL - typical Si quote there...... But yes, if it were me, I'd probably source an OEM space-saver from somewhere and reinstall it in its rightful place ?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have my space  safer in there for what good it is ??‍♂️

I plan for upgrade brakes so it's likely a space saver won't fit over them anyway.

Joel - did you look into whether a sub would fit in the spare well? Seems a shame to not use the void though your solution does give me something to think about!

I think you’d have to raise the floor to install a sub in that location. I think Andrew’s solutions is probably the best you’ll get for sub location. To be fair, you also don’t need to do what I have done as any modern Class D digital amp will fit nicely under the floor on the RH side opposite the sub and power all your speaker needs.

In a moment of madness I decided I wanted analogue amps for a more natural sound quality, but these take up more space. In reality, at 70mph with the wind/road noise, it’s unlikely that the difference in SQ is worth it and my Z has a fairly significant amount of sound deadening and noise insulation!

Sorry to hijack!

Joel, just wondering what trim you used around the edge where you cut the hole for the strut bar?

Hi Adam,

I ordered a sample set of different rubber trims from an eBay seller to choose the one that sat nicely and ordered a length of that. It’s been many years since I did it now but it was something along the lines of the link below. I’d recommend you measure up and have a good look at what’s available for something suitable, this is just an example:

Cheers Joel! Will take a look and get some measurements.

I think that's a great way to use the wheel well space though, may look into doing something similar with mine

I bought one of those underseat active subs and stupidly didn't measure up first, forgetting you can barely get your hand under the seat!
