Hi Guys & Girls,

The Porsche is up and running very nicely, so onto the 300.

I am looking to refurb the front and rear subframes, the whole underside, brake lines, PS lines & Fuel lines. Big Job.

Started by removing the rear bumper, looks like it has never been off before, then draining the petrol (still in the process).

Took some underside pictures of the task in hand, it’s not bad mostly surface rust. I will be cutting all rust out and welding it my

self, if I can build a complex Porsche engine and it hasn’t exploded after 300 miles, anything is worth a try.

Just playing around a bit today.

I did some more work last weekend and a rusty peddle box from my brothers +2 elan.
 

 

Done an amazing job on that pedal box

Did some more bits ready for powder coating. 

 

5 mins on the wire wheel.

I will use the laser next time I’m there.

Hi all not had a chance to do much recently, today I removed the brake lines and the fuel lines, question is shall I clean treat and paint the fuel lines or replace them, they are pitted in places.

NEW !

Definitely go for new ones. Not worth the risk on brake and fuel lines IMO. When the corrosion returns, which it inevitably will, even when using ‘rust converters’, the paint you apply will probs hide the corrosion until it’s too late and ready to burst. 

As you have gone to the not inconsiderable effort of getting access to them replacing them with new would be worthwhile insurance. You don't want a failure once everything is back in place.

Yup - what Andrew and everyone else says..... New new and new 😉 

I will make some new ones then, shall be making all the brake pipes as well.

Almost finished my axel stands, cut outer sill on drivers side to see how bad the rust is, not as bad as I thought, parts coming back from powder coating so better get a move on.

 

there is some rust along the very bottom edge of sill and near the front wing, I have the rear panel and whole sill so might just replace the whole thing, not sure yet need to get the front wing off and asses.

Got my suspension, fuel filler pipe, fuel tank shield & straps and many more parts back from being blasted coated in Zinga then powder coated.

 

subframe is being painted soon. I had better get a move on.

Decided to test the Laser on the sill to see how it comes up.

 

 

 

Decided to clean and prime my diff and some brackets today.

Started cleaning my petrol tank.

Today I painted some brackets and bits.

I can’t believe I managed to get the front wing off was a real squeeze with the space I have.

Hi so today I removed the AIV tank from behind the front wing.

and found this rubber flap, lifted it up and it was full of crap, so might drain the water from under the scuttle panel but having the AIV tank in front front of it cannot do it’s job properly.

It was full but cleared it out before I took the photo.
