Evening,

I am looking to buy in the new year as a summer car, cant wait, always wanted one and a massive fan of 90's Nissans anyway!

Currently got an MX5 but it just isn't very interesting to me and will be sold to make way for a TT!

Thank you both, I’ve been keeping an eye out on FB marketplace and some groups as well as eBay but not a huge amount of adverts.

Any other ideas of where to look?

I keep an eye on this forum and zclub.net as well

About £10k with £5k left in the budget. Seems I could get a decent one for £10k I think. TT, manual, Targa, red or black is my wish list!

I haven’t really. Have no experience of it. Any specialists you’d recommend or would it be a case of speaking to any, like Torque GT or something?

Get yourself registered for the car auctions and start looking and seeing what they sell for. Use google translate to check the Shaken (Japanese MOT), its not perfect but you can normally work out what its trying to translate. When you have found a car you are interested, then go to someone like Torque GT. I have never used them personally, but people on here may be able to point you in the right direction with who to use.

1990 Black MT NA LWB = 2014 - 2020 (Sold)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2015 - 2017 (Stripped & Scrapped)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2017 - 2021 (Sold)

1991 Black MT TT LWB = 2018 - 2021 (Sold)

1989 Red AT TT LWB = 2021 - XXXX (Kept)

Torque GT or Jm-imports for get a personal import. Both are very good and will help throughout.

Be aware that there are huge shipping delays for getting cars from Japan to the UK. And then there's long delays with the DVLA to get the car registered in the UK.

Hi there Howl,

£10k even importing might be difficult to achieve for a TT manual Red/Black.

I imported my Zed 6 years ago which I found in Japan through TC-V.com. I imported it myself without an agent. It takes approximately 3 months.

It was called Trade Car View back then. Take a look at the web site, Nissan/FairladyZ 1990-1996 there are 48 to look at. They start at nearly £8K

Add on shipping to your port in the UK + maritime insurance ( they will calculate that on the web site for you)

Then the cost of collecting it from the port to your home or garage.

You will pay import & VAT charges + MOT without a registration number (engine number needed) Not a lot of garages know this!

An agent of course will do all this for you. Good luck with your search.

You'll never get an import and have change out of 10k.

3 years ago, I bought an import from the importer for 4.5K, now this was not the selling price of that I am aware but with fees it is pretty safe to say the importer paid getting on for £4,000.

We have discussed this not long ago, he tells me they have tripled in value since our deal, so that puts it at a minimum of 11K today, to him landed.

FYI, it was a 1995 non turbo manual slicktop, so that's obvs a SWB, rated 3.5 but it was very very clean/straight.

Yes, on mine I migrated a turbo engine into the non turbo import, plus a host of other work btw, I never found it relevant but I did, to be thorough, put the engine number on the Swansea registration documents but you cannot register an import with them without obtaining a MOT certificate, any testing station can test and use the VIN, as there's yet no reg number.

£55 to register an import and you've also to pay road tax, which for me I'll be immediately sorning, once I get the documents back.
