So i want to clean my block properly as i want to be 100% sure that there is no contamination inside.

What i know and wont do is the obvious method you see all over youtube with people using a jetty and hosing it down.

Trying to do this DIY as much as possible for the moment.

Below is a quick video of the block, i'd like to strip off all the silver paint and degrease the full thing.

Whats the best solution without the chances of using the block by using water.

As you can see the crank is turning nice and smooth at the moment and i really dont want to upset that.

Your kinda working backwards...any blocking cleaning including the crank oilways should be done before the crank goes in. take the crank out and have the block cleaned and flushed including the crank by a specialist company, wont cost much and it will put to bed the reason you have had so much rebuild troubles in the past as in not being cleaned correctly and in order. The stage you are at in the vid is crucial regarding contamination?

Best way IMO is to have it hot tanked at an engine specialist who will usually then dry it and spray it with rust inhibitor so you can then continue to paint it and build the block up from there.
