Seems I missed somewhere about members making donations to the forum, was there a post?

Take it, that it is to help with running costs etc? and the diminishing incoming cash stream from subs.

Times change and people and places can become Dinosaurs like and not changing with current trends, Woolworth and pick and mix come to mind ( for older members)

343 New registered members this year to date * where the heck are they ??

17 registered members subscribed

74 Subscribed members renewed this year to date

Very poor conversion rate and why?

Well how is it the forum is back to this >>>

“My daugher call it the toothless dragon”

“what did you do to your zed today”

“Time to tacklejobs I did not want to do”

“F1 ( *** ) “

A five subject forum !

Ok with a small smattering of other well visited but not highly commented on posts and that is it ?? I mentioned this ages ago and the result was the “what did you do to your zed today” post was closed ( finally !!!) .. BUT, it was like a red light to the forum traffic so was reopened, what is wrong with you guys ? ( members I mean) can you not be bothered to make your own posts? even Funki si recent ( now ) thread about his trip has 350 + views with less than 30 comments, I mean a road trip across Europe in a Zed like his is legendary and should of been the top topic the past few days, but no again its one of the top ( stifling a yawn ) fives....again

The monthly stats for new members now is meaningless as it gives the appearance of a vibrant and well subscribed site, reality is take away the 5 post subjects above and well its not...

I have no axe to gring, I sold my own zed over 7 years ago and left the Zedworld workshop for early sunny retirement near 5 years ago, but I have stuck around and still contribute where I can but now with the Facebook activity increasing more than the forum which is more a sign of the times and owner profiles ( younger in the main ) I guess ...where next for here ?

Is there any plans to do anything about the slipping away or is a dignified exit to Facebook planned? so much of peoples time created this place over the years and it turning to dust after 15 + years is painful.

Don`t expect to make any friends with this post but if this is not discussed then that is exactly what will happen no good sticking heads in sand about it..

Subs due....

Its the way it is Jeff as some 300zx fourms go under we are still ticking over by trying to move with the times. Facebook is a big attraction to owners with easy access to post and put pictures up. We of course have a very active FB page were members are happy to post but for club shows and information this is the place to be. I put the stats up each month and I brlieve a lot of new members will come here to view threads to gain information. We now have that much information to view that members dont have to ask for help and a lot of them dont. We even have subscribed members that pay their subs each year and never post. At the end of the day I believe we are doing alright on both club and FB and so lucky to have a core of enthusiastic members who live and breath the z32 300zx. Also good to have members like you who have moved on from the 300zx but still give great advice.

I try Jeff I put up a thread and got 2 replies I think and 70ish views. Are people just not that interested in viewing threads on the forum? I refresh the forum everyday looking for something to post on but it is not like old times on here.

I even put my zed details up in the garage section and got no comments on that so I totally understand where you are coming from and my best measure is from seeing the response I get to threads I start.

I do not mean it in a way to have a go I just concur that threads do not get the same attention that they used to and for all the new threads the number of members to views does not add up. Maybe the thread title needs to read 'free parts' ha.

The good old days are gone now with big post counts and big attendance at shows. I tend to look at life as the glass is half full so maybe we now have quality over quantity. But it would be nice to see members react more to threads being started and opinions posted.

Yes agree with what you both are saying.

Nothing new.

The club continues to inhibit trade and full involvement for all but paying users.

Facebook and the like offer higher foot fall and a more stream lined process.

What can or does the club offer for a fee? That cannot be had for free elsewhere, in fact you’ve only got to look at the thriving marketplace in those other locations to see what’s going on. It became clear some years ago that the club was becoming merely a website, with ever decreasing numbers of these cars the club has suffered the same fate. Many don’t feel at home here anymore and as said gain nothing from membership, it’s virtually impossible to get a club meet together.

The risk of becoming a clique rather than a club is a currrent and real threat.

Sad to see a member of nine years being so negitive towards a great club. We still have a lot to offer as the only 300zx club in the uk and will try to deliver for many more years to come. Stephen if you have any positive thoughts where we can improve our club plese feel free to let us know.

It may appear negative but it’s certainly nothing I’ve previously failed to express. Not only am I member of over 9 years, I’m also an REO that’s stood down for some of these reasons and has several owners near him that aren’t engaged in the club anymore for the reasons I point out.

It’s an honest question, what benifit does the club give that cannot be gained else where. What’s the unique selling point?

USP's

1 The largest resource of 300zx information in the UK.

2 Very helfull members.

3 Great club shows/Events

4 Insurance discount for subbed members

5 The best 300zx's are members here.

6 A Committee who bend over baqckwards to make this place work.

These are just some USP's of the top of my head as I jumble working here and preparing Sunday dinner and yes you will get some of these points on FB but not to the extent you have here.

Now your turn Steven what can you do to help promote the club?

I’m sorry my build thread is boring you Jeff.... and yet I haven’t seen you post a single comment, question or reply on its 26 pages.

So in short you’re moaning that there’s not enough content being created and commented on, and yet you’re criticising those of us who are making an effort to post content.

I’m not really see the point in this thread other than to rock the boat

I enabled the donation system purely as a few members asked for it.

The position of the club currently does not require donations but a few members expressed that they wanted to donate to the club after others helped them out.

The system was turned back on two weeks ago just as a means to process payments at the members chosen amount.

1. You can access this information without being a paid member, there are other huge Forums such as NICO, 300zxclub.com etc. It’s the biggest in the country but that’s the beauty of the internet, it’s global.

2. There are some great people on here, there are some not so great esp in times gone by. I’d say the club has lost as many kind and knowledgeable people as we have anything else.

3. There are a few shows each year, but participance is low, many shows the club have had no formal appearance this year in particular. Local meets no longer exist and if anyone tries to organise no one turns up.

4. Insurance in fairness is cheap anyway for these cars, compared to others and as many are finding out many specialty insurances are failing. Adrian Flux are very uncompetitive.

5. Matter of opinion really...

6. Can’t argue with that.

I’m a member a few other clubs for different hobbies. This one is by far the most restrictive to members privileges. Most require a minimum time or post count to be able to sell. Here you can’t even edit your post, let alone post pictures without third party hosting... one is free, straight up for members, the other requires a one off token payment for security. I know membership is cheap but the cost is a perception issue.

If you want a suggestion as to how to increase traffic and envolvement it’s to remove the membership cost, relying on other fundraising to maintain the forum. Open up the privileges, make the club THE place to find THAT part. The most successful thread on this site, What did you do... only paid up members can fully engage.

An old question and valid point, what makes this a club and not just a website?

Maybe a change of REO's for next year? Get a bit more enthusiasm arranging meets? But then members have got to turn up when they say they will. As for the what did you do with your zed thread I dont think it's used properly. We could change the name to where did you go in your zed today for some scenic pictures. Any work done on your zed then start a new thread.

That thread alone is limiting traffic because alot of posts go in there when it could be someone starting there own thread. I don't read it I say close it as it is not good for activity in number of threads.

Not going to argue with you just agree to disagree mate but can you answer my question What can YOU do to help the club?

And I’m not trying to argue.

What can I do personally. Well I just made a suggestion of how there should be change to the way funding and membership privileges are done. Personally, personally all I can do is engage further. Historically I’ve done my share I’d say. I could pay my £10 and update my thread... don’t think that’s going to solve the problem though...

Historically you have done a lot for the club and I thank you for that. Solving problems and making changes we have been doing a lot of that the last few years and will endevor to keep doing it.

The "What did you do to your Z today" thread we did close for the reasons given but members wanted it open again.

I think it is genuinely linked to the low traffic. Junkies like crack it doesn't mean you should keep your crack shop open haha.

Interesting thread, always good to flush out these ideas of how to get people involved. Jeff, have you read Nick’s thread about toothless the dragon? It’s a feat of engineering and pretty ground breaking when it comes to the VG30 development in the UK, I reckon a man of your caliber would find it pretty interesting.
