Morning guys

I would like to propose we change the areas in our “Meetings and events” forum. Currently we have 13 sub forums (never a good number in motorsports) and I would like to see this changed to 7 forums (National, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, North, Midlands, South).

After a recent roll call in the current south coast forum I got 4 replies. That’s terrible and not worth the time trying to organise an event. If we had larger areas more people might check in and see what’s going on. Localised meets could still be arranged in these larger forums so there’s no lose there.

I’m not suggesting this is going to make a huge difference but it MIGHT help get more people together.

There’s more work needed but the meetings and events forums need to be more inclusive before I (and other REOs) start work on trying to re-engage absent members back into the forum community.

What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Chris.

Totally agree with that. We don't have the regional numbers to sustain those. Long gone were the days were a 'South West' area meet would attract 20-30 cars. We're lucky to get that at a national meet. Nothing to do with the club, purely down to numbers of cars left.

That’s great. If it is accepted by the committee can we please do a roll call in the current forums just to let people know what’s going on before we change. Hopefully this will help retain active members in the new forum set up and possibly build some enthusiasm for the new system.

Devolution of the regions. I think it’s an unfortunate reality but I’m not convinced it will change too much when it comes to attendance. I’m fairly sure the Cornwall members will point blank ignore a meet in Kent!

Of course they will mate but everyone will still have the opportunity to arrange the local meets. The reason I think we should do it is for the REOs to have half a chance of arranging a larger regional meet.

I am minded to agree Joely, the low numbers, meet apathy, just living and making a living in 2018 does leave less time for the owners left, I guess though unless changes are tried the outcome is unknown.

Not a bad idea Chris.....

….one for committee to discuss for sure!

Have you guys had a chance to talk about this yet?

I'll raise this with the guys right away and will come back to you Chris. Sorry it's taken time and not been discussed yet. I think it's a good idea given the size of club and how things have evolved.

Guys, please can we get this moving? It would be great to have this up and running before the season starts, with a few dates in the book. I’ve got a rare day off by myself tomorrow and would like to get the South meets moving and inspiring other areas to do the same.

Cheers,

Chris.

Looking at the areas we have

Scotland no active REO

Ireland - Gaz 300

North - Ian Greenfield and Bird

Midlands- no active REO

South - Chris300 Funkysi bigh

National- Committee members.

Just need someone like Jaikai or Craig to change that section.

I think we need to archive the old forums and not just merge them as sub forums under the new headers.

So here’s how I see it...

National.

Scotland.

Wales.

Ireland.

North. (North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber)

Midlands. (West Midlands, East Midlands and the East of England)

South. (South West, South East and London).

Attach this map on a “sticky” Welcome post in each of three county based forums and let new members take it from there.

REOs can try and locate people on the forum and nudge them in the right direction and anyone who has Space Book and all those other computer based “social” media places now can lead people to the right area. Maybe we can send a generic email to everyone informing them of the change, but I would recommend we do this (if we can do this?) after the new system is bedded in.

Anyway, let me know if you like it or have a better idea I/we can work on.

Looks good Chris. :thumbup1:

Cheers mate. I can’t claim credit for the map, it’s lifted from the net, but it was the most appropriate I thought.

Bit confused as to why the census map has changed, it doesn’t help find your “region” with the new map.

That's what i get when i try to edit it on my phone.

Uploaded a colour coded map.

Is this one better ?

Other than showing Scotland, Wales and Ireland I’m not sure what any other map is trying to achieve. I don’t really mind I just can’t see the point of muddying the boarders from the first map. Anyway, it is what it is.

I thought you said you just pulled that map from google !

As i was only trying to get a better picture that included all regions.

Not directly from the club as that's the fastest way to get our mail server marked for a spammer.

I've got a mailchimp account so will create an email campaign tonight.

Can mailchimp also be used for other full membership email shots like COTY and NEC polls for example?
