I'm soon to be changing the harness and injectors on my Z. The aim is to fit 740cc injectors and a new harness without having to either modify a new 91 (my model year) harness or fit injector adaptors hence the 95 harness which actually looks a little neater thanks to a plastic wire enclosure which clips onto the left hand side of the manifold.

Anyway, that's besides the by. In essence, I don't want to either chop or have to re-pin a brand new OEM harness and no, I'm not going for a Wiring Specialities harness either.

To update the harness to fit my engine, I need to change to a new-style CAS and a new-style throttle position sensor which I have bought from the US. The only thing I'll have to change is the AC pump connector which I'm less concerned about.

If anyone else has done this upgrade, are there any other things I either need to change or modify for the 95 harness to fit? I don't believe there are, but just checking.

hate to bust your bubble funky but you wont be able to install the later tps on and older z32 the voltage range is different and from what i know cant be changed. you will have to slice in the old tps harness connector.

also have you considered the problem with the differences in the lower plenums for the new injectors? from memory the shape of the channel the injector sits in is a slightly different shape it could affect the new injectors spray pattern into the cylinder.

I have the SpecialtyZ adaptors, this is not a problem and is a common addition for anyone upgrading to any newer style injector.

.....and the TPS is not required as that's for 96+ and different again. I was mistaken with the requirement for that based on the fact that the 95 harness is the newest one you can still buy. The 96+ has already been discontinued, certainly when buying through the US. The RHD version of the 96+ might still be available.

Can you elaborate on the TPS not being required?

We are using this kit from JWT for the newer pintleless injectors like the Nismo 740cc's.

95 TPS is the same as our TPS. So the newer version is not required for the 95 harness, I can use my existing one.

Seems like a lot of faff and expense to negate the requirement for a joint for the injectors.

How's that then? My harness needs replacing. The 95+ harness fits straight on with only changing to a new style CAS (which I already have) and can be sourced use from the US for as little as $40.

That's a LOT less faff than changing 6 injector connectors or fitting additional adapters and adding that awful series 2 PTU sub harness and/or the faff of getting that spliced in if you wanted to do away with that ugly harness. Who wants to butcher up a new harness when you don't have to!? If changing to new style injectors and you're needing to replace the harness as most Z32s need, it really is the logical step forward.

So on the contrary it is completely the opposite to the faff of fitting an early style harness so I don't understand your point at all.

I forgot you had the series 2 PTU to boot. It’s an expensive faff because splicing in the connectors you wouldn’t need to purchase a new loom (didn’t you buy a new pre 95 loom a few years back?) for a few hundred quid, you wouldn’t need to fight the damn harness through the engine bay, swear at the hole that the block goes through for the ECU. But then aren’t you running 740s on stock turbos?

I'm currently running the original harness and original injectors. Harness needs replacing. I've replaced some of the connectors but a new harness is needed really and certainly before they go NLA which won't be too far in the future. Since I'm replacing the injectors, to get the maximum benefit I now choose to replace my aging harness with injector connectors that are past their best. The general harness is past its best.

740s are being chosen because they're about the best upgrade even for a stock engine. Just because they can flow at much higher rate than I need, doesn't mean they have to. Yes initially I'll run them on stock turbos, but I'm keen to see where a Link G4 and 18PSi take them. I'm future proofing because eventually I'll got for GT525s and want that nice buffer.

There's little difference in price between the 615s and 740s so I might as well go for 740s as they give me much more of a ceiling. I've also managed to get a brand new OEM 95 harness and 740cc injectors for just over £1k which is extremely good value.

By going with a '95 harness you will also benefit from the switched live injector change Nissan made to the harness:

Although perhaps less important with the later pintleless injectors like the 740's.
