Too little a difference to worry about. Document the change with the date and leave it at that.

Think that is the best option Chris. I will photograph the two mileages and date the change of clocks. Will this cause concern at next years MOT Chris?

No. Mileage is of no importance on the test.

Hi Gary

Not sure but I'm sure Jeff will see this and tell you

It looks fiddly Tony and my big fingers and poor eyesight wont help lol. Think I will just document it.

Cheers mate. :thumbup1:

I wound mine back when I installed UK clocks. As Lee says it’s not difficult to do and I’d rather keep it accurate.
Accurate? How accurate is the mileage on these type of cars? So much gets renewed that the mileage doesnt tell much.

It’s accurate since I’ve owned it and I just want to keep it that way that’s all, I have my little service record book and all my invoices with recorded mileage etc so is nice keep it all in line. Also, I really don’t want to have to explain to my insurance company every year why my odometer mileage doesn’t match and could even be liable for fraud possibly... somehow.. I guess!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t use my car based on its mileage, I have no real interest on what it’s clocking up as long as I’m enjoying every single one of them! [emoji41]

Gaz, with the clocks out, it really is a 5 minute job to adjust them to the correct mileage, in fact we used to do it when converting from kph to mpg along with a certificate.

Jeff

Will try it on the clocks I took out Jeff and see how I get on with that. Hate the thought of taking the new clocks out again but JP raised a good point on the insurance as I have a limited mile policy on my classic insurance and to save any hassle of sending them pics and dates of the change of clocks it might be better to adjust the mileage.

The way I corrected mine when changing the clocks was to:

1 - take the fuel gauge out (3-4 screws on the back)

2 - plug the odometer from the Speedo on the back

3 - unscrew the odometer (2 screws).

4 - once out use a drill to wind it forward or backwards.

I have a spare set of clocks in the sitting room if you want me to take them apart to show you? I always think it's best to be honest and have them accurate personally

Nice one Gary - that's what I would have done, rather than attempt to alter the odometer!

Richard:cool:

Ditto.

Correct miles now in my Speedo as I have finally put my old mileage counter in.

Gaz

Was this easy enough to do? I need to swap the mileage counter on my old clocks to the new ones

Thanks

It turned out very simple in the end. For me I hated the thought of removing the fuel gauge needle but it was easy enough to praise off. Then remove the fuel gauge face and the clear plastic strip under that. Turn the clocks over and remove the two screws holding the mileage counter and disconnect the electric socket. The mileage counter will now come out and fit the new one in reverse.

Gaz where did you get the white dials?

Hope you don't mind me asking.
