I know some will have seen it on Facebook, but following my post a few weeks back, I decided an iPad instal would be pretty cool. The glare hasn't been bad at all so far.

What do you all think? I need to put the vents in and possibly change the colour of the panel. Anyone know what colour / paint would be a good match to stock plastic panels?

There's a before (how I bought it) and after (how I made it).:thumbup::thumbup1:

I don't think they'll mind it to be honest. The car isn't exactly a purist car, but I do also really appreciate the more stock type zeds. I'm always happy with criticism anyway. Doesn't bother me, usually a good laugh

I thought about doing a big one stood vertical. But I thought about your comments around potential glare and for videos etc look better in landscape.

You think it looks ok Joel?

i installed a 7" lynx tablet in my car a couple of years ago and it was fine but I found its not easy to skip/find tracks you want while driving. I gave up in the end because I was either going to crash while trying to skip track or because of the glare. The main reason I wanted it was for some form of satnav using wase. Turned out though that although the tablet was sold as having GPS it wasnt proper GPS, it used trianglation using wifi signal and ip address location, which was useless in a car! I have gone onto a double din android stereo now and seeing how that goes! I like what you have done with the centre console, looks good unlike my bodge-job!

My tablet went into the 3.5mm aux jack on the back of the stereo so that I still had BT, CD and radio (and most importantly volume) if needed.

I remember your threats, I actually looked at it recently.

I was just saying to Neen (better half) last night about that very thing of moving to the next songs. I'm currently using Apple music and I've just set up a play list but it's fairly easy to skip etc.

I'm also using this through a stereo. Currently over Bluetooth as I'm waiting on some wires to relocate the stereo to the arm rest at which point it'll be wired via USB. The stereo I bought has an app where you have full control over the stereo and it's functions. So I can mess with the settings, switch to radio/CD erm really easily. Pretty good really although it's interface could be a bit nicer looking (haven't even checked if I can change that yet).

Thanks mate. So far so good really. Today has ended up real sunny hear, so I'll see what the glare is like on the way home. Might even take the roof off

Interesting design and a vast improvement over the old design. I think it would look a lot better satin back though.

Yeah I thought that initially. But only had the old colour from my black Z handy. Will have a look and maybe get some

The gloss back will show any areas that need a little more fine filler put down so it wasn’t time waisted if you do go for a satin black.

Bit if a small update.

I've repainted the panel in satin black and no clearcoat.

Also reinstated the air vents from another radio surround I had lying about. I had the fix the vent lats using one of the bairns little paint brushes.

Also put the stock clock in, but it doesn't work, so I'll have to rake out another one at some point.

Anyway, looks great now.

As for glare, honestly I've not had any problem with it at all so far, only had the roof off once though

I think that looks a lot better mate. Also I’m fairly sure you can get a satin clear coat out of a can, I think it would be worth the effort to keep it looking smart. :cool3:

I have some 2k clear and it'd probably look decent. But decided to leave like it is for now. Doesn't take much to repaint it really if I need to

Me too...…

…..Always a good move to restore the OEM air vents! Not just for appearance, but for function too - especially in the current weather conditions...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yeah. Just a shame they are series 1 aircon controls rather than the series 2 where you can tell it where to blow etc
