I have removed the 99 spec spoiler from my UK 1991 TT in preparation for the fitment of a new OEM series 1 spoiler. The 99 spec had the perspex strip fitted ...which was cracked ...and broke while removing it .... I had always thought is was the non brake light version...as it didn't light....however on removal I noticed it 'was' the brake light version...but not working as there is no brake light harness in the tailgate !! :confused1:

So...I'm assuming that a UK 1991 TT 'would' have had the centre brake light....so does anyone have a spare one for my nice new spoiler....and the harness to connect it!! ?

No brake light harness!

Spoiler fits like a glove though....as would be expected of an OEM part !....will need a bit of bodywork to repair the 99 spec mounting holes...and whole tailgate respray in Tri Coat EH7 Sahara Gold :scared:

....so I'm looking for a centre brake light assembly and the harness to make it work!

Did I read somewhere that some Zeds came with a blanking insert, rather than a third brake light...?

Will be doing mine soon too. Cheers for posting.

yes, UK zeds came with a body coloured blanking insert.

Pete,

does the UK boot lid definitely have any of the brake light wiring in it?

I cannot recall exactly, but i thought i had to run wires up from the normal brake lights into the lid, as that part of the loom was completely missing.

I remember breaking one car that had a grey plastic blank so that was probably the UK manual i broke a LONG time ago.

I dont remember whether it had any wiring inside.

The brake light I posted pics of came from a JDM car.

Best I can remember.

UK specs had a dummy insert which was exactly like the real thing except it had a solid body coloured lense.

Well done Gary! Will look perfect when all painted up. You will need to provide a switched live feed from one of the rear brake lights

and an earth connection. I used the wiper motor earthing point in the tail gate.

You up to speed on fixing/bonding the spoiler to the tail gate?

No brake light on my spoiler mate, just the painted blank.

Get a brake light in there, looks loads better!

i recall my original uk spec zed did not have a centre brake light, so when i fitted one we had to extend the harness, so i dont believe yours would have had a centre light originally either Gary

Yup - all dead right.....

....UK spec cars had the aforementioned blanking insert - and no wiring harness for a third brake light.

I remember having to wire in the third brake light on my red Zed from scratch - hence could not be bothered to do it again on the blue one!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
