Yes got too be garaged and iv got limited miles per year think I told them 5000 as wouldn't be using it in the winter

That’s a very good price. I’ve just renewed mine with Lancaster Insurance but I couldn’t get below £200 this year, many of the other companies quotes had gone up considerably.

I’ll add the to my list of insurers to keep Lancaster on their toes!

Yes it is indeed....!

Lancaster's renewal came in at about £225 for me this year. However as I have an Admiral multicar policy for the AMG and the Evoque - I asked Admiral about adding the Zed to the policy again. Turns out they could offer classic car cover on a similar basis as I had with Lancaster - for £202. Granted, it's still over £200, but by adding the Zed, Admiral knocked £30 off the Evoque and £90 off the Merc...... All three cars covered for £970; happy days...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Nice quote Ted.

Ted, Joel and Richard are you guys declaring all your mods to get these great prices?

Absolutely every last detail of mine is submitted, no mater how small or insignificant and whether visible or not, a lot of the stuff they’re really not interested in! I have a word document that lists every modification or alteration to the car that I email to the insurer at quote stage, they then submit that to the underwriter for review. With Lancaster it made zero difference to the policy cost, the only thing that affects the price is the final power output.

Absolutely Scott - it would stupid not to! The last thing you need, if the brown stuff should unfortunately hit the fan, is for your insurers to declare you uninsured....!!

Cheers guys, I hear what you're saying only questioned it as my last premium was considerably more than that when I sold my last car and swapped the daily insurance to the Zed. It was with Adrian Flux though :whistling:

That's because it was normal insurance I suspect, a classic policy is rather different. You normally need to be older, to have a primary car for everyday, limited miles and most require the car to be garaged. You also won't accure not claims bonuses on these policies, so for example I have a company vechile which is my primary transportation, so I'm not the policy holder. I now have no, no claims as they have expired as the only insurance I have in my name is a classic policy.

Well today i got around to sorting this years insurance for the Z. I had already received my new quote from Lancaster and it was considerably more than last year.

I got a new quote from Classicline whom i was insured with for the first 3 years of owning my Z. They came up with a great policy with all the extras for a lot less than lancaster so i have renewed with them.

Its a shame to have to keep switching companies to get a fair price but thats the way it is i guess.

Admiral are brilliant with the newer stuff. My insurance with them is £325 per year with mods declared, no one could get anywhere near on the comparison websites. I think the next cheapest was e sure at £450.

Just done mine. FJ renewal, £680! Just insured with Lancaster, £290. Monthly it’s like £25 no complaints from me on a car with a mod list longer than a Chinese takeaway menu.

That’s a shame to hear. Tut tut Lancaster, sort it out!

It does seem insurance companies only offer good deals for the first year.

Whilst the quote from Lancaster for the Z was quite high i got a quote for my daily (JDM Hilux surf) for £200. My current insurer for this vehicle (Admiral) quoted £500!

So this year i have insured both cars for considerably less than the quote for one.....

Will have to play the game again when the RX7 is on the road.

Red Nissan normal insurance with Admiral = £620

Black Nissan classic insurance with Performance direct = £189

All mods declared, both policies fully comp. Admiral allows NCB earning. Classic allows me to drive to work, agreed valuation of £2000 and I get the car given back to me for free if written off.
