Now that I have your attention. Ha ha

I'm after some advice and aesthetically pleasing visuals of gear knobs!

I have a wooden one that feels good, but doesn't flow with the look of the cabin, plus I have a short shifter to install, so wondered what knobs and shifters you all have and how you rate them?

Thanx.

Same here. The stock knob with the stock shift mechanism with new bushes is by far and away the best. It's the best weighted and the nicest to feel and also to look at. They're understated.

you obviously haven't tried the stock MR2 knob, its .... indescribable , so just look at the picture...

Whilst it has some similarities with the 300zx stock, it is the little things that make it feel better.

It's only good because it shares similarities to the stock knob!

The mr2 knob has a more forward thrusting feel whereas the zed one is more upright, not that upright knobs are bad, its just that a forward thrust does the business. If you want Joel, i can send mine over so you can compare both knobs, you know, in a hand off, if that is something that interests you?

Ha ha. Glad we all had a knob off in here.

Probably should have mentioned I'm after a little more than OEM, as the steering wheel isn't oem, and a few other things are changing in the cabin, plus not sure if you guys are familiar with my car, but it's not very oem from the outside either. Ha ha

I'm not after something lairy, just thinking of something more motorsport or that would tie in well with the steering wheel.

10 years ago this thread would've been full of ripspeed, richbrook and sparco knobs (no offence to anyone who has one of these).

PMSL, they're some names I haven't heard for a while. Next we will start talking about what's best 10", 12" or 15" sub.

Naff picture but, fully custom ratio selection device crafted from the finest random lump of black plastic I scrounged out of the bin at work and turned up in 10 minutes during lunch.

Has an aluminium core for weight and so I can swap anything onto there that I can razz a big thread into.

Fits in the palm perfectly, and is the nicest shift of any car I've driven... although that's really not saying much as everything else has been broken or a van.

I'd say your cars pretty stock looking tbh, it's just low with aftermarket wheels....

That looks really good. Subtle, yet purposeful. Would look good with a shorter shaft too.

Yeah, and bright purple, with non stock lip and skirts, but yeah, a lot of the mods aren't visible. However, what I meant is that it's not a stock car, so didn't want a stock knob.

I can always chop a bit of the core down to drop the height, but as a lanky fellow in what is a surprisingly small car, it sits just about right for me. Would look better if I took the whole assembly out and painted/polished the shaft, as the black sparky tape covering the rusty nastiness still doesn't do many favours! But, function over form until I start doing a lot more overtime!
