Hi all,

Am pleased to say I'm the new owner of a 300ZX UK TT. You would have seen the car advertised in Ebay a few weeks ago. its Red and has the Strosek wide arch body kit. I have a few questions which I'll post followed by a few pics. Any other members in the SE London / Kent area ?

Regards

Nadeem

Thanks all for the Welcome :) Definitely would like to meet up but this Sat is not good for me I'm afraid Alic.

A few questions for starters, appreciate the help !

1) Looked at several references but could not see what the pipe being pointed at Red is ? Seems to be disconnected on the other side. Not sure if I've disconnected it when trying to check the dipstick level. I haven't started the car up since I noticed this. Worst case scenario I could start the car up and find something leaking !

2) Read several threads on where to get the car serviced from but none near me. ( London SE12). Any suggestions please ? Alic, your're closest to me, who does your servicing ? Apart from the normal service stuff it looks like the coolant overflow tank is broken. Not sure if that's what's causing the car to lose water. Drove the car for a bit and it needed half a jugful of water. Temp gauge seems to stay in the middle. Car seems to run fine but not going to take it on a long journey until this is sorted.

3) Near the centre console is a plain three switch dial, very very plain looking ! Could this be a boost controller, no sign of any display ? Will try to take a picture when I can.

So looking forward to driving the car, but just too busy at the moment. Hopefully will get a bit quieter after the family comitments I have this weekend are over with.

1. Aftermarket looks like the vacuum is tee'd off for a boost controller or gauge.

2. I do my servicing as no one local will touch it. Darren who was kind of close has retired. So for any major stuff I go to Lee Dent in Shrewsbury. I can provide you with a coolant overflow in October possibly otherwise December.

3. My bet would be a rear fog light switch. They didn't have them in Japan and to be registered here they have to be wired in manually. I rid my switch and powered all fogs from the front fog switch on the left gauge pod.

Hi, another Wide arch.....good man. Don't forget to post some pictures

Hi Nadeem welcome.

I'm in Folkestone!

Finally managed to give the car a quick clean and polish.

Literallly finished taking the pics, thank goodness before it started pelting with rain. Yes, I had checked the weather forecast but the rain was an hour early :crying: and I found out of the two car covers I have, ( and one is an XXL with a pic of an old S class on it)don't want to to stay on the car.

Anyway, hope you like the pics. The purists may not like it, and I've always preferred the later rear end look but I fell in love with the wide arch kit and had to have it. The pics have done well to hide the paint imperfections, there are loads of them but from a distance I would say the car looks ok. More info to follow on the mods the car has but for now hope you like the car.

Yes it works. I think I recognise it actually, looks like it cleaned up nice.

I have a big wing also and its a pain to get a cover to fit, without the wing they fit nicely.

Photobucket can't embed images anymore -_-

What's wrong with the z not to make 9th?

Hope to see u at ace cafe.

I did 158 miles for Saturday meet, great afternoon.

Car is losing a bit of water even after a short drive. Temp gauge stays in the middle, no sign of overheating, and no glunk on the oil cap. On closer inspection I found the filler neck on the overflow tank was either broken or loose where it connects to the overflow tank. Couldn't easily check the water level in the expansion tank as I now realise the dipstick was broken, only half its original size !

Now have a replacement filler neck and overflow tank so will look to replace the filler neck and if necessary the overflow tank. Hoping that once the whole lot is put together then the water loss will be ok.

Can't work out how to get to the overflow, I'm hoping removal of the front wheel and the wheel arch liner will reveal all. But before all that, the car's MOT runs out on the 23rd Sep so about to book it in. Had some advisories last year but has done very little mileage so hoping it will get through.

Just so you are aware the dash water temperature gauge is a stepper motor. It effectively has three modes, cold, correct and overheating. So just because you see no rise from centre is not an indication of the temperature being correct, rather that it's not hot the threashold to display that it's overheating.

Think you're being incredibly polite to it, 3 modes :p, it just moves up from cold/rest and sits somewhere in the middle of the range - crossing its arms and muttering 'no matter what happens my remit is not to move a muscle' !!

Thanks for the warning !

Anyway took the car for its MOT and of course it failed. As the car was purchased 7 weeks before the MOT was due I couldn't get a fresh MOT so asking for trouble I suppose. Previous MOT had advisories and as the car had done very little mileage since, was expecting to have the same advisories so was expecting minimum hassle.

Sadly not the case. :thumbdown:Needs both front sills welding, osf ball joint, plus rear foglamp and foglamp dashboard lamp not working.

I'm checking to see what the local garages around SE London charge for the pleasure but am also thinking of taking the car to ZEDWORLD to get the above done and if there's any money left in the kitty, then some other work done. Will tell you how I get on.
